Well, if we were getting good dialogue the talking would be ok but that isnt' happening.

Seriously. How many scenes have there been in this series outside of battles where you would go back and watch on Youtube as you did Game of Thrones?

And if you watch the post-episode show, you will see the culprit: Two female writers who are focused on the female dynamic between Alicent and Rhaenyra.

Agreed, he lost me with that comment too. I seet Cole and the Wolves meeting, probably next week, and Daemon clearly has an axe to grind with Ormund and Daeren.

The Daemon stuff is a wild card since they’ve nixed the Nettles stuff and all that. But, I just don’t see where he heads to Butcher’s Ball.

Appreciated them bringing Jason Lannister back given his role going forward.

Poor Baela. Fixin’ to lose another boo.

The episode largely focused on Cole and his journey, Daemon and the Gold Cloak situation, Alys with Aemond at Harrenhal (and establishing that relationship), Aegon/Larys, with Alicent trying to escape with Helaena, Ormund’s machinations, Rhanerya’s growing paranoia. It was good mix of multiple perspectives and moved the plot forward.

It’s so tiring. Nobody cares for or likes those two characters.

I've almost become a fan of Cole this season.

Earlier, he seemed to be basically a spurned lover of Rhaenyra. He was 100% against her ever since she turned down his offer. It was a little annoying watching him and Alicient scheme and complain about everything she did, despite them having poor morals as well and pushing for the ascension of a king (Aegon) that they knew was completely unfit to rule... and also supporting Aemond who was out of control on Vhagar and starved for the crown. All that, just to get Rhaenyra back for what should be considered minor slights compared to an all out war and the scheming they did to start it.

He's largely a new character this season, and I admire the choice he's making.

I’m more sympathetic towards Gwayne at this point. Poor dude just got hitched to a suicidal Cole. But I also really like the actor, Freddie Fox (Swedish King from The Great), and glad they’ve let him hang around awhile longer.

He should be dead by now so I don't know what they are planning to do with him. He's walking off during Cole's speech, so I guess he will be making his way to Tumbleton.

Watching the previews for next week, I saw a shot of Cole fighting with a sword, so maybe the show is going to let him die swinging like he wants. But, they set up the book BB with Cole's comments about having songs written about him, so who knows?

I guess the show just sort of expects us to buy that Helaena is pregnant with Aegon's baby, even though he and his weenie were burned and broken at RR several months before. Maybe they'll reveal that it's actually Aemond's.

Non book readers are going to screech loud when Helaena kills herself.

Same here.

The speech he gave to Gwaine was good and pretty moving... makes you feel sorry for him.

At the same time, I can't escape the thought that, maybe, he's so spurned by Rhaenyra that he has no intention of living if she wins the war (he'd almost certainly be executed). He'll literally do anything to weaken her cause, including throwing his life away along with anyone he's commanding.

I'd argue that at one point, he was more invested in this than anyone, including Otto, Alicient, Rhaenyra, Aegon, and Aemond.

I think that even if Rhaenyra submitted to Aegon and accepted Otto's deal to remain over Dragonstone, Cole would've done anything he could to get Aegon to pull the offer and drive her from Dragonstone. For the character from seasons 1 and 2, nothing would've satisfied until Rhaenyra was exiled, publically shamed, ran out of Westeros, or worse. The Hightowers were conniving, but I think even they would've been fine Rhaenyra just giving up her claim.

The show plays pretty fast and loose with timelines and when events occur so I don't think it's unreasonable to think that Rooks Rest probably happened within a 3-4 month time period of where we are at now (meaning it's Aegon's baby). In the books, Viserys dies in 129 AC. Rooks Rest (being taken the first time) happens in late 129 AC with King's Landing falling in 130 AC.

These are all of the Dance of the Dragon events that happen in 130 AC (per the Westeros.org wiki):

The Dance of the Dragons continues.[1]
The Battle of the Gullet.[2]
The Battle of the Honeywine.[1]
The retaking of Rook's Rest.[2]
The fall of King's Landing.[1]
The Battle at the Red Fork.[2]
The battle at Acorn Hall.[3]
The Battle by the Lakeshore, also known as the Fishfeed.[1]
The siege of Longtable.[3]
The sack of Bitterbridge.[3]
The Butcher's Ball.[1]
The First Battle of Tumbleton.[1]
The fall of Dragonstone.[1]
The Battle Above the Gods Eye.[1]
The riot of King's Landing.[1]
The Storming of the Dragonpit.[1]
The Second Battle of Tumbleton.[1]
The Moon of the Three Kings.[4]
Lord Borros Baratheon takes King's Landing during the Moon of the Three Kings in the name of King Aegon II.[5]
Winter is declared on Maiden's Day.[1][6]

130 AC timeline from Westeros.org

Of course Mushroom in the books suggests she's been whored out by Rhaenyra and that's why she's pregnant. So it's just a whole different deal/vibe than the show anyway.

I honestly thought it was going to happen for a moment when she asked to see the Moon and Alicent told her she could only look through the window. Especially when they had her framed in the background while Alicent was talking to Mysaria.

Take joy in his fail. He has been a miserable whiny twat the entire series. He's not Joffrey level hatred because the show just isn't that level of good but he's my most hated character on the show. Two seasons of him being a douche because a future queen didn't want to give up being a future queen to run away with him Gtfo.

In the book, there are 6 months between RR and Rhaenyra talking KL. Also, the show depicted Aemond sweeting up to Helaena, so it's not impossible that the baby is his.

It's certainly possible that they shortened it to 3 or 4 months. It's still kind of silly though.

The shows timelines are not very obvious. You could tell me it's been a month or a year and I wouldn't know so throwing in a baby in that time frame doesn't even seem unbelievable.
