quote:

rhaenyra and daemon have to have never even met the infant before he was sent to oldtown. That was a long time ago; those two had ample opportunity to (and no real reason not to have) at least lay eyes on him and note that he has brown hair

Rhaenyra and Daemon were on Dragon stone and Daeron was born in Kings landing. Alicient said she sent him to Old town as a baby. Its VERY possible they never met him. And plenty of baies are born hairless or born with one color hair only fo rit to turn a different color as they grow.

quote:

-the fact that he has brown hair seems to be the catalyst for ormonds plot…he can be passed off as and accepted as a “hightower” and not a Targaryen. But in the decade and a half he’s been gone, nobody has met him that would pass word of his hair color? He’s never once traveled to kings landing to visit his parents? Didn’t even got to viserys’ funeral? Or it that was too dangerous, come see him and say goodbye?

This is a better point than the baby one but maybe they died his hair.

quote:

and before you say the hair color isn’t the thing, daemon was clearly expecting a blonde teenager. And alicent immediately knew the blonde ringer wasn’t her kid

I'd assume Alicent has visited her child at times and whether he was naturally blonde or brunette, she would recognize his face.

quote:

and then we have daemon, taking the word of ormond that he’s turned over daeron, not in any way verifying him, and leaving the dragon?

This was a plot hole. I guess their reasoning is that Daemon is OVER confident and underestimated Ormund. STill dumb but at this point, we can only assume that no one has any idea how to wage war.

quote:

I don’t know what all happens with daeron (or ormond) in the books but this development strains credulity and continues the pattern of having characters do stupid things to create a conflict

Daeron doesn't really show up until the first battle of Tumbleton adn very little is written about him or Ormund.

I figure when they dyed the fake kid’s hair blonde they went ahead and dyed the real one brown.

Makes sense. At the very least he’s less of a target for any cross bowman who want to gain favor with the queen.

If his hair is brown, she may have sent him away to keep the contrast between her other kids and the other queen’s bastards.

Are they going to combine the two Tumbletons?

Also, are they going to have Daemon be at tumbleton or the butchers ball? He was with Nettles at this point in the book.

The trailer for episode 5 shows him clearly suited for battle.

I could see them doing that. Or doing both battles in one episode. Having the dragonseeds turn early in the episode. Have them chilling in the middle where they get themselves into trouble/dead. And then have the second battle at the end of the episode.

That would make the God's Eye the last episode of the season I would think.

It looks like it. If so, they seem to be nerfing it as well. If the brutal ransacking of Tumbleton is represented here by the incident with Hugh's brother-in-law, that's about as nerfed as it gets.

But the river men are also headed that way, so maybe they do it. It seems way off brand for Oscar, etc., though?

Ok so that was Hugh’s wife? I haven’t seen her in forever so I couldn’t remember what she looked like.

I’d have to double check, but I think at the start of the preview they said something like “upcoming in the next episodes” and it was a preview for the second half of the season.

Those scorpions were a lot smaller than the scorpions in GOT. I didn’t like that they killed Vermax with one shot. I know they needed them for the on screen drama, it worked but they should’ve killed him the way he died in the books. I don’t like the dragons being diminished, it throws the strategy around them for warfare out of whack.

Just starting now and couldn’t agree more.

Sheepstealer/Rhaena/Nettles Theory here:

This popped in my head due to the Daeron switcharoo.

What if, the show tries to make Rhaena turn into Nettles? Meaning that she lives on her own with sheepstealer, becoming a bit of a wildling and eventually starts to call herself Nettles. She fits the physical description of Nettles and so long as she never meets Rhaenyra face to face how the hell would Rhaenyra know who she really is? It would also explain Daemon and Nettles's close relationship away from Rhaenyra and why Daemon sticks up for her when Rhaenyra tries to kill all the dragon seeds.

The issue with my theory is the "dead sheepstealer rider" that Daemon presented to Rhaeyra. For my theory to come true, we would need Rhaenyra to figure out that sheepstealer is still at large with a rider and she would have to somehow allow that rider to be on her team through Daemon.

I think it's pretty obvious that's what they're doing, especially considering her current appearance. If so, we've seen the last of her, so none of the rest matters.

Episode 5:

The Dance of the Dragons plunges into all-out war. Criston Cole and Gwayne Hightower retreat toward Tumbleton to rebuild the Hightower army, while Aemond returns to the fray. Meanwhile, Daemon prepares his forces to face Ormund Hightower's convergence.

Almost thought they were going to take a mid season break between episodes when I opened up HBO today and HotD wasn’t showing up in the queue.

All this talking is exhausting. Listening to talkers makes me thirsty…and hungry…for battles.

What makes you think he’s going to Butcher’s Ball? It set up him going to Tumbleton to confront Ormund instead (I know that’s a deviation from the book).

Criston seems on track to run into Sir Roderick instead.

Agreed, he lost me with that comment too. I seet Cole and the Wolves meeting, probably next week, and Daemon clearly has an axe to grind with Ormund and Daeren.
