Another retard episode. Daemon takes Daeron without checking who he is and leaves the fricking dragon behind lol. He takes a hostage to keep the Greens in line then tells Rhaeynra she has to kill him. I mean I could go on but the simps are gonna menstruate like Rhaeynra so whatever. Let’s get to The Gods Eye so I can quit watching this garbage
Not accounting for the dragon was the biggest oversight, even if it’s a young and small one.
From what we know about dragons, they aren’t just going to sit and watch you take their rider and then retreat with the army. Should have been a red flag that they were being tricked.
Daemon knows all of that, but apparently just figured it was like a horse, nothing to worry about.

I could have sworn in the books she did, but Corlys turned on her anyway. Maybe they are simplifying their divide on the show.
She did. She legitimized both of them.
His turning on her was complicated though. In the book she had Corlys arrested for defending Addam and Nettles after the betrayal by the other dragonseeds at Tumbleton. He helped Addam escape before Rhaneyra's people could arrest him. Which resulted in Corlys being arrested. He was later released when Aegon II returned, but basically ends up plotting with Larys Strong to end the war and help put Aegon III on the throne.
So it's a bit complicated. I'm not a big fan of the change on the show but am willing to see where they go with it.

That seemed like a big misstep.
I had to laugh at this though. That dragon knew that little silver haired boy wasn't his.

There had to have been someone new that did the score for that episode. They did a violin screech and big GONG(!) at every cut scene. I was sitting there thinking I swear to god if they do one more gong I'm going to kill someone.
I thought they'd show some sort of competence with ruling but man she is a disaster from the get go.

Not a great episode, but not terrible. The change with Corlys' bastards is understandable, but things like Rhaenyra hallucinating Jace were just goofy and out of place.
The change with Rhaenyra and Alicent being friendly is also kind of lame.
Also, are they lining up the famed Rhaenyra bleeding incident as being due to her period and not being cut by the throne? Is that the thing that skyscreaming feminist reviewer Grace Randolph said she loved about E4?
If they do that, The Fonz may as well wax up his skis.

When my brother first died when I was younger my Mom's cheese slid off the cracker (rightfully so, he was just in his 20s and she was the one that found him). She probably should've been hospitalized but she refused so we watched her in shifts to make sure she wouldn't harm herself for several weeks afterward. One of the most jarring memories I have from it was we were in a grocery store and she saw someone that vaguely looked like my brother and was convinced it was him. It was awful but knowing that, I think it wasn't a terribly inaccurate thing. Just throwing that out there. And of course it supports her mental instability as this is all going on.

Maybe? I don't follow Grace Randolph, so no idea what she loved about it. I took it more like the thought that just when you think your day is shite, it conveniently shows up in the worst possible scenario.
ETA: They kept focusing in on her hand rubbing the armrest of the throne so I think that is where we may end up seeing cuts (I'm pretty sure her Dad did something similar earlier on). And of course the rats hanging out in the throne itself.

In one scene where they show her hands she had small cuts on her knuckles. It was never mentioned or pointed out.

I think that is from beating on the door when she got locked in her room on Dragonstone. In that episode there is a closeup of her hand right before she takes a knife to that dress.

She did. She legitimized both of them.
if I were him I’d take my sons home (with a dragon) and start picking up the pieces

The crown is who recognizes who is noble and who isn’t (similar to IRL monarchies). In the same way Dany gave Gendry, Storms End, in GOT (TV). If houses could just recognize whomever they wanted without the Crown’s say it would get murky really quick.

Remember the whole scene from last season where the guy got his head cut in half? Only the king can take the bastard stench away.
The Sea Snake is obsessed with legacy and his name going forward. He could keep them around and call them whatever he wanted, but they’d still be “illegitimate” and at risk for someone with a legitimate claim to push them aside.

Doesn't Corly's still have a queer son gallivanting around the other side of the world?

Another reason he needs the crown to do the legitimizing.

quote:I was thinking of roose and ramsay Bolton but you’re right, tommen legitimized ramsay not roose. Even more reason for her to immediately legitimize those two if that’s all corlys wants, since he can easily get aegon to do it if he helps him. I don’t particularly like this change I don’t see how this is a narrative improvement, they may have just want to make corlys’ turn more clear cut
The crown is who recognizes who is noble and who isn’t
I do like the change with ormund and his army that could be fun

The crown legitimized Ramsey Bolton. Roose couldn't just do it.
It takes a King or Queen to make it official.

I don’t know why she’s denying them
Other than……. They need drama between Corlys/Rhaenyra

My fear is they’re dumbing it down for the audience who couldn’t understand the nuance of what happened in the book.

Third episode was kind of slow. I felt that the writers are trying to demonstrate that the Queen Raenyra doesn't have what it takes to rule and chaos will come out of it. I did like the ending of the episode with the "Prince" being switched out and the Queen feeding the Lord's rats. Didn't really care for the actor from the Harry Potter series popping up in this episode, but he seems like he might be able to pull it off.
