Sorry gotta call Apples Oranges.
If pressed, Goonies - more fun adventure with some touches of gravity, while SBM is more realism drama with cool moments.

Stand By Me is for adults (and not just because it's rated R) but it's about a middle-aged adult reminiscing.
Goonies is a PG kids movie full of fun hijinks looking for Pirates booty.
So as Havoc said:
Apples to Oranges, not remotely comparable.

I don’t know, but there’s a good list of movies out in that window of time which I would rank before Goonies. I am not dismissing it entirely, but whatever magic or connection a certain age group had with that movie, it didn’t land with me.
It never did, and as time went on it just never had any appeal to me.

Growing up in the 80s in rural Louisiana was not all that different from what is portrayed onscreen in Stand By Me. We absolutely rode our bikes down dirt roads to go deep into the woods and find grand adventure. Stopped at old stores for supplies (usually candy, sodas, baseball cards, the essentials). Found old, abandoned houses, cars and the like. Ended up at new locations we’d never seen. Dealt with bullies. Called each other ****s and retards. Everything in that movie. Obviously to a much lesser degree.
On the nose.

Goonies will probably always be a top 5 movie for me. It came out when I was a 9 year old and is incredibly nostalgic. I watched Stand By Me later when I was probably late teens and enjoyed it also, but can never touch Goonies.

That was Thursday's paper 10/24, the 26th is the Saturday as seen on the calendar and all the children were off of school.

Stand By Me
Hits home with me in so may ways
Acting was some of the best ever…. Even by the kids

Goonies was better as a kid. Stand by Me hits harder as an adult.

Goonies is a kids' movie, Stand by Me is a film.
Taken out of the generational nostalgia pool, there's no way that Goonies stacks up against Stand by Me.

For me it's Stand By Me, and it's not close. Saw that movie in the theater no fewer than 5x when I was in 7th grade.

Goonies is a more fun movie. Stand By Me is a bit more intense and dramatic at parts.
Both phenomenal movies.

Considering both have Corey Feldman staring in them, that's a tough decision.

I’m stand by me by a lot for me. Was never a massive goonies fan.

SBM holds up better after all these years IMO
