Yup. I guess it does.
Maybe it's just interesting to me because I haven't experienced a marriage like that.

Saw it today and while I enjoyed it, until the end at least, I'm really surprised at the love it's getting. People are even talking Oscar for this and I just don't get it.
The ending of this movie was ludicrous and I'm not really referring to Affleck staying with that psychopath(although that was highly unbelievable to me), but more the police and FBI's handling of the kidnapping/rape/escape etc. I loved the "thorough" interview Pike's character got by an audience of agents while she sat on a stool covered in blood. Affleck brings up logic and it's dismissed. I find it very hard to believe the FBI are that incompetent as to not find the inconsistencies in this nutjob's story.
Overall, the movie was OK, even if very implausible to me, but I really don't think it's Oscar worthy.

I don't think they would've done much probe questioning when you have someone in front of you who was brutally raped. Desi was a weird cat who had cameras and shite all around his house. There's video of her screaming with what appears to be blood all over her, not to mention other things. The evidence was overwhelming. You had a dead sick frick and a happy husband and wife. What's there to question?

For the actress/actors, but not necessarily slam dunk for the movie. But the score was great. The movie was dark and intense. It might get consideration.

The part that you are missing is that the movie's style isn't meant to be a perfect crime novel/story where you can't pick anything apart.
There isn't enough time for that, and that's what the book is far.
It's very post-modern where it's self-aware enough to ask you to take it at face value.

The FBI had no reason to probe further. The rape kit came back positive. So, her story about getting kidnapped was somewhat corroborated.
Plus, they weren't trying to prove she set up her husband, like the local detective was. And once she called the detective out for screwing up the case, it became solely up to the FBI, which bought her crap hook line and sinker.

The point of the movie wasn't to make a nice big bow on that scene for you. The blood being left on her is a further illustration of that. Of course it's preposterous and implausible.... that's the point. Fincher is making sure to throw the "it's just a movie" in your face. The movie wasn't about solving the case. It was about the game she was playing... and Nick knew it was a game... and that she was making him play it again... And the deep shite that he's in with her. That's why it was great.

I understand that not everyone is going to like this kind of movie, but I think people who are trying to compare this movie to real life are missing the point. Much like Pulp Fiction, this is not a movie to take literally. It's a bizarre story that's meant take us for a ride. It's fiction. A man can't fly in real life, and yet we have countless movies and works of fiction representing that. This is fiction and meant to be entertaining. It's meant to be a unique form and style of story telling.

Rosamund Pike was absolutely brilliant in this movie. Hands down she deserves the Oscar. The way she was able to alter her personality and physical appearance throughout the movie was astonishing.

See and my GF couldn't believe no one recognized her b/c she really didn't change her appearance that much and seemed pretty recognizeable. I guess every character in the movie was a complete moron except for Amazing Amy.

I really meant overall. Like the changes in her weight. She changed based on the situation in the movie. She put on weight because she wanted to let herself go. At the end she was so skinny and used that has part of her plan to make it look like she was starved. Unbelievable dedication to the role.

How interesting would it be to see a relationship like theirs?
Husband wants out but can't because of the kid. Both super manipulative and narcissistic. Both choose to play the game to get what they want.
And I quote Amy, "That's marriage."

What inconsistencies were there to find? A kidnapping and rape victim (with evidence to prove as much) kills her abductor/rapist and returns to her loving, wrongly accused husband. Why would they investigate further? It's an open and shut case. Case closed. Happily ever after, as far as the FBI is concerned.

Only Boney, Nick, Margot, and Tyler Perry knew the real truth.

Everyone is analyzing this like the cops knew what we knew. They didn't. They had no reason to dig into this. The feds looked at this as a total goof. Nothing more.

She had all of the evidence of rape. Girls can claim rape over consensual sex these days, and she even had the brutal damage to go with the claims.

Just got back from seeing this. Went in blind (I have been avoiding spoilers for MONTHS and I have never read the book). Holy hell! So good! I might go see it again to pick up on things I might have missed.

Alright guys, WOW. Haven't read the thread yet, but I think I'll have some unpopular opinions.

First off, heading into the theatre, the only thing I even thought I knew about the movie was the girl in it might be an a-hole or crazy. And I was still very vague in that.

I'm not too concerned if anyone believes me but VERY early I leaned over to my girlfriend and said, "she's framing him for murder." The gf thought I was crazy.

That said, I still let it play out...and can easily say I've never experienced so much holy shite/wtf is going on/my mind is blown for that long of a period in a movie. I mean, I was in a constant state of OMGEJFHDUGJDBOMG.

Once she came home I was pretty let down, which probably isn't fair to the movie, because it was for pretty selfish reasons. I so wanted them to out this bitch. That level of crazy needs to be outed and locked away forever.

The biggest thing I can't get over is him not decking her in the face when she first arrived home and then singing like a bird to every news outlet he could find. There's no time to ponder how the shite you feel about finally seeing her. Every person on the face of this earth would have lost their fricking mind right then and there, whether they wanted to or not.

And nobody would stay with her. Nope nope nope. There's no way humanly possible to be ok with even sleeping in the house with her! Just, NO.

And I thought it was weak how it was assumed he'd look like the worst man in America if he spilled the beans. He sat there and got shite on and torn apart by every person on the planet and came out being 100% correct. After that, his word was as good as gold. Plus forensics would be able to disprove a shite ton of the self inflicted things she did.

Even after all of this, Gone Girl will probably be the most memorable movie I ever see. And I enjoyed the absolute shite out of it.

C'mon, man! This is the last movie that should be picked apart. Just enjoy it! From my perspective, there's almost nothing that doesn't make sense or isn't plausible. And I, for one, am not going to go looking for things.

I actually think this is exactly the type of movie that needs to be picked apart. It was first a book, then a screenplay, and the subject matter is VERY meticulous. The book was obviously pretty genius. The making of the movie have enough time to figure out how to possibly cover up any holes. AND Amy is extremely careful in how she conducts her plan.

Yet there are things I just can't overlook. I'll drop it, had my earlier post to point out what I didn't like.
