Thats literally all Leslie Jones does.

Thats her thing.

People think the writers are racist, but if they didn't want characters like that she woudl be on the streets.

Well, I agree she sucks.

But that's not her thing...that thing is an old tired regurgitation thing going back to the early 80's comic relief. Hell, even Robin Williams tried to make money off the angry black character.

That's how bad this movie must be.

If a reviewer quotes "oh, hell no" he might as well be playing Sega Genesis and saying this movie had 5 "oh no you didn't!" finger swags.

Does Arsenio show up in this movie? Is there a dog-pound? Is OJ's Bronco getting re-fueled?

Do they play hammer-time?

For SJWs, they seem to be stuck in the past and not really moving society forward.

You misunderstood...

It's not "her" thing.

It's a common thing.

She's a parody of a parody. She hasn't invented anything. It's not her thing...she cheaply copied countless others...it's an old thing.

An old thing.

Not her thing.

A tired and worn out black comedy spec far before she was even noticed.

Gotcha, I was just saying she has nothing else in her repertoire

The film will please fans of the original even as it wins new followers for Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon, Kristen Wiig and Leslie Jones.

quote:

The cast is awesome. McCarthy does her very best well-mannered-but-exasperated Everywoman here, and the dialogue includes bits of ‘polite women dithering’ that are truly hilarious. Wiig is at her best, Jones is a revelation, Chris Hemsworth is a wonderful surprise in the movie and Kate McKinnon steals the show. They’re all weirdly endearing, too, and it has nothing to do with nostalgia.

quote:

No, it is easy to see what the Ghostbusters furor is really about: angry, bored, women-hating men expending otherwise untapped energy mining their own feelings of social inadequacy in a toxic bid for attention. If Sony and the Ivan Reitman brain trust had somehow convinced Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson and the ghost of Harold Ramis to headline a new, straight-up Ghostbusters sequel, surely few of the Internet trolls would object. Just, you know, keep women out of the picture.

quote:

Remaking this beloved film with women as leads is an act revolutionary enough to attract the ire of legions of Ghostbros insisting that the very concept will warp time and space to retroactively ruin their childhoods. But it’s also, you know, remaking a beloved film, one of Hollywood’s least revolutionary habits. Director Paul Feig and co-writer Katie Dippold sometimes seem caught between nodding to the past and rolling their eyes at the haters, when the gesture they really want to make is to flip the bird to everyone.

quote:

Jones, McCarthy, McKinnon, and Wiig are so good together — and in ways that are distinctively theirs and not recycled from the past — that their message of not giving a damn resonates better than the movie’s underwhelming climax. Saving the world and reliving memories of the older film isn’t the interesting part of Ghostbusters. The interesting part is in how these characters bounce off of one another along the way, these brilliant, awkward, hilarious women who come to find they need affirmation only from one another. It's a sight that’s worth all the nasty comment sections the internet has to offer.

No, seriously you guys, these are from 3 top critics. The movie is wonderful. All is well....

By all means, post whatever you feel like, but pretending that image isn't wildly out of context and wasn't criticized by the people of that little subreddit is beyond dishonest.

I suspect 'anti-GhostBuster' people aren't the only ones with an agenda.

I have always assumed that if a movie gets a shitload of hate before it opens, reviewers will go out of their way to like it, and conversely.

How much this being an election year with a woman running for president plays into the politics. . ?

I mean, I have to assume a little.

This. It will be impossible to read reviews on this film. I wouldn't trust anyone on this regardless of the side they fall on. It's way too volatile of an environment with this one.

The original was just naturally funny from interactions between the characters.

Well, even more than that - the organic relationship between Murray, Ramis, Aykroyd (and Reitman) was the culmination of about 7 years of work, beginning with Meatballs. The fact that a big budget, A-list "horror" comedy was so successful is highly unlikely without that group of filmmakers.

Stupid stunt casting is stills stupid stunt casting. Bad. Like "Sulu is gay, now" bad.

It's not surprising that some of the reviewers giving it good reviews were the same people that criticized the "ghostbros" who bashed the trailer.

For example Robbie Collin of The Telegraph gave it 4 out of 5 stars.. But let's go back to March 2nd:
quote:

Forget the sexist naysayers, says Robbie Collin - if the first trailer is anything to go by, this all-female reboot will be every bit as fun as the 1984 original

You don't think there's an organic relationship between this cast that has been working together for years? Wiig and McCarthy have worked together since they were in the Groundlings in the early 2000's. Feig's been working with them for five years.

Well, I was impressed with the first cast's work before I ever saw the film.

Meh.

I like her. I don't love her, but I like her.

Feig

Super meh.

See? Stupid stunt casting is still stupid stunt casting.

Don't really care for his post F&G work. That' okay isn't it? I mean, James Cameron went from my second or third favorite director to "off my list" with Titanic. It happens.
