Coco is either a reader trolling everybody or he occassionally makes a post that is intentionally far off base to try to draw readers out.

very solid new strategy.
The FB recap is great.
I guess it's spoilery for them. But fake FB Mance brings up a point. Did they make sculptures in the book? Can't remember. I wonder if they program the Wights to do it, or if the White Walkers themselves do it. I am waiting in both forms of show to see how the battle against the Others plays out.

Well I doubt we ever get a panned out aerial view of the dead horse hurricane in the book so I'm guessing it's a show thing

Mance says "always the artist" or something like that before it pans out. So it seems like the old timers knew they liked to make large symbols.
Or at least the wildlings, it's maybe a calling card. I was more meaning that, not dramatic camera angles that you of course couldn't read in a book.

Also, if you remember in the show's premiere they do the same thing when they first see the bodies the Others left behind.

I don't think he knows. Vargo doesn't know in the books, but cuts Jamie's hand anyway. When he finds out that he is going back to Kings Landing, he gets worried that Tywin will be mad. I think, just speculation on my part, that Locke thinks they will be sending an alive Jamie back to Riverrun (sans hand).
I think in the books Vergo's chopping of Jaime's hand made perfect strategic sense - don't recall the details - but I recall Roose showing the logic how it wasn't just a random/crazy thing, but a well thought out strategic move.

Thanks, Manwich! I was just googling around for some GoT discussions and came across you guys. Seems like there's a lot of GoT knowledge here. Is this mostly an LSU community board? whodathunkit???
As for me, I've read through the 5 books once, and seen the 1st 2 seasons twice.
My recollection of the books is shakey in places - I usually rely on westeros.org to fill in the blanks! :^)
And I'm not going into that non-reader thread - sounds scary!!

Fun to lurk that one. Check out the "Crackpot" Thread. Should keep you busy for a while.

Vargo left the lannisters and fought for the Boltons. Then Vargo for wind that the Boltons are trading on the Starks for the Lannisters.
This meant that Vargo no longer had northern protection from the lannisters so he cut Jamie's hand off in order to drive a wedge between Roose and Tywin. Obviously it didn't work.

yah...that rings a bell, CottonWasKing. I recall a later scne where Jaime tells Roose that he doesn't blame him for what Vargo did before he takes off to return to Kings Landing.
