Hadn't Ned always said; had it not been for the frog guy; he would have never won at TOJ?
I thought Howland was the reason he lived?
It's consistent with the cold reality edge of the story. If you want to beat the greatest sword in the world, that's what you have to do. Ned would never do that, but Reed obviously would and did.

Disappointed with the Tower of Joy scene. They made Arthur fricking Dayne a medieval Darth Maul.
How hard would it have been to have a third King's guard like in the books? Then maybe they don't look like jackasses because Dayne can use only one sword
And which fricking sword was Dawn? For a sword that gives the wielder the title "Sword of the Morning" they both looked pathetic. Both those swords looked like he grabbed them off a community rack before heading outside and was sharpening them out of necessity so they could cut through more than a piece of paper.
Why do they have Ned ask where his sister is? Ned knows goddamn well where his sister is. He wasn't out for a leisurely stroll with his hombres.
Why does Bran think Ned beat Dayne one on one? And why has he heard the story a thousand times? Its out of character for Ned to boast and even more out of character for him to leave out the part that he wouldn't have survived if not for Howland Reed.
And then, as if shitting on the scene wasn't enough they cut before the only part that the book readers care about.
frick
eta- and they got the casting backwards. Dayne should have been the blonde dude and Whent (assuming thats who he was) the guy with short hair.

Just watched it again...glutton for punishment, I know...
But Ned grabs one of the twin Dawns and delivers the death blow with it after Dayne drops it.
Hmm.

Yeah. I have no issues with Reed stabbing Dayne in the back. My problems are with everything else.

It's funny to see you take the opposite of your stance in TFA threads. Just because someone didn't like the episode/show/movie/whatever doesn't mean they're miserable or trolling. Something you had to remind everyone of in those threads.

The average TV viewer needed to know something about the tower.

Reed stabbing Dayne in the back is the only thing that they got right.

He didn't need to ask Ser Arthur where she is though, does he? It could have been put more organically.

Anyone else notice that the 3-eyed raven said he has been entangled in that tree for a 1000 years?
So I guess he's not married to the red titty witch.
So I assume that the show is just dropping the idea that the Three-Eyed Raven is Brynden Blackfyre?

I just wish they could have made it this insanely epic: LINK
So do I, but there's time constraints, budget constraints, locations, etc.
Hell, the Tower of Joy isn't even round in the show.
It's just a different medium than the books.

Episode sucked
Tower of Joy- Good job on D&D making this meaningless. Good wham pow action I guess
Dany- don't give a shite
Mereen- don't give a shite
Wall- solid but because of Dany& Tyrion storylines we get 5 minutes here
King's Landing- same as the wall
Winterfell- fricking retarded. I'm mad at Jon Snow so here's the 12 year old boy I'm supposed to protect

Because frick you that's why. It was nice watching Dayne's overrated arse get stabbed in the back, couldn't even see a frog man coming at him, pssshhhh.
So he had two swords, who cares? George RR Martin's works aren't the gospel, and maybe that IS how it happened and the story told in the books is wrong.
You don't know so stop acting like a bitch.
And Dayne's overrated

How was the TOJ meaningless? You realize that's not the last of that scene we will see?

If one of them is supposed to be Dawn, then it is the one he stabs into the ground and the one that Ned finishes Dayne off with. It had a sun with rays coming out of it on the pommel. But shouldn't it have been a star of some sort if it was Dawn?
Posted on 5/8/16 at 11:10 pm to Tiger1242
Your post is fricking cancer.
GRRM's story-telling around TOJ is so much better than what we got tonight.
"WHERE'S LYANNA?" Oh you fricking rode to the middle of nowhere Dorne because you have no clue where she is?

He didn't need to ask Ser Arthur where she is though, does he?
It's just a line to inform the viewers that she's in the tower. He looks up, says "where is my sister" and the audience knows she's up there.
More organically? What the frick does that mean?

No, it doesn't.
It's mostly that you and other ol' piss fans seem to exude this angry bitterness in your posts. Nothing personal. Just an observation.

It would have been a shorter and cheaper scene to stick with the book dialogue and not make the fight scene so damn long.

If that was the case, and I was the director, then I would have cut the fight itself. Just used that choreography budget to hire an extra guy and another minute of dialogue. Have the fight end like in the books with Bran being drenched in blue rose petals, hearing Eddard, and his final words being "I promise Lya".
There's no excuse for how poorly it was executed.
