I think House Dayne and House Reed are the only ones who know of Jon's true heritage.
House Dayne surely knows seeing as how Ned would have had a baby with him when he brought back Dawn to Ashara.

If we are melting here, can I throw in some melt on Jaime's redemption arc from the book being destroyed? He is one of my favorite characters in the book.
Melt away with that abomination of a storyline

Is that point important to the TV show? Maybe they are just trying to keep things simple for the audience. Dunno.
I just wish they could have made it this insanely epic: LINK

Yep. Hound lives.
No Ser.
The Hound is dead. Sandor MFing Clegane lives.
And the hint (admission) just flat out calling ungregor "Gregor" plus a mention of Cersei's pending trial by combat in the next line...
Bring on Clegane Bowl.

If you look closely at the pommel of the sword he was sharpening and stabs in the sand, you see a sun with rays cresting on horizon. This is likely your beloved Dawn.
The sword that he sharpens is a different sword than the one he stabs into the ground. The one that he is sharpening is the one that is in is scabbard (you see his empty scabbard when he is sharpening it). Plus, Dawn wouldn't need to be sharpened if it is as fine of a weapon (or better) than a Valyrian steel sword.
And, yeah I picked up that the one he stabs into the ground might be Dawn. But again, if book readers couldn't pick that up on their first glance, then they did a crappy job of making it standout.

Anyone else notice that the 3-eyed raven said he has been entangled in that tree for a 1000 years?

So I guess he's not married to the red titty witch.

Hadn't Ned always said; had it not been for the frog guy; he would have never won at TOJ?
I thought Howland was the reason he lived?

Honestly, I think they just wanted Dayne to look more impressive FOR the readers.
Plus, they might have consultants who've told them that you cannot beat that many men with one sword. You need to attack from both sides. One of the swords was probably Dawn.
Or who knows? Maybe they've come to really hate the hordes of nerds who nitpick ever single fricking thing they do. I know I'd get sick of it after a while.
Beautiful post. I thought Dayne was badass fighting with two swords.

The other knight must have been Whent...
And he was the one sharpening the sword, not Dayne.

Full TOJ. Dayne wasn't sharpening a sword.
What in the heck was he doing at the :06 mark?
ETA: Nevermind, I see now that wasn't Dayne.

You're right, stated clearly in the text. I always figured it was a "cheap shot" by Reed...was hoping there was some magic in him.
Ned could never have beaten Dayne one on one.

It's consistent with the cold reality edge of the story. If you want to beat the greatest sword in the world, that's what you have to do. Ned would never do that, but Reed obviously would and did.

Disappointed with the Tower of Joy scene. They made Arthur fricking Dayne a medieval Darth Maul.
How hard would it have been to have a third King's guard like in the books? Then maybe they don't look like jackasses because Dayne can use only one sword
And which fricking sword was Dawn? For a sword that gives the wielder the title "Sword of the Morning" they both looked pathetic. Both those swords looked like he grabbed them off a community rack before heading outside and was sharpening them out of necessity so they could cut through more than a piece of paper.
Why do they have Ned ask where his sister is? Ned knows goddamn well where his sister is. He wasn't out for a leisurely stroll with his hombres.
Why does Bran think Ned beat Dayne one on one? And why has he heard the story a thousand times? Its out of character for Ned to boast and even more out of character for him to leave out the part that he wouldn't have survived if not for Howland Reed.
And then, as if shitting on the scene wasn't enough they cut before the only part that the book readers care about.
frick
eta- and they got the casting backwards. Dayne should have been the blonde dude and Whent (assuming thats who he was) the guy with short hair.
