Well, Stannis has now upped a very high bar in being the worst father in history. He's beat a bunch of classy gents like Craster, Randyll, and Tywin. Tywin having his son's wife forcibly gang rapped and Craster raping his daughters aren't as bad as this. Who the frick would ever follow Stannis after this? I think that even under death in that day and age, I couldn't follow a guy who burns his own daughter alive over a superstition.
Really hope Davos just stays at the Wall and mentors Jon after all this. This may be the ultimate case of Moral Event Horizon. Stannis can't simply be killed, he has to definitively go to hell for this. Won't look at the character in the same way again after this, and Davos and Jon sure as hell better never go back to him.

You're certain he never will? Don't be.
I think he'll do it to Theon before his daughter.

Well then in a world where shadow babies kill your baby brother, killing your only child as a religious sacrifice isn't murder

The show officially jumped the shark tonight. Killing just for the sake of killing. D&D are fricking terrible
GRRM signed off on all this, hoss. Let's not act like he's just some innocent bystander who is letting his story be written a way he doesn't want it written.

I think there's a reason for Shireen's character, and I'm not sure people mad at D&D are going to like it.

You didn't answer my very simple question. Sorry for the personal issues. No need to hash them out here.
I didn't mean it to come out like that, just that their two sides to the "do you have kids argument" as well. It's a matter of experience/perception. It's why I didn't want to get into a drag out argument over two horrible things. One just happened to effect me far worst than another
I'm just honestly trying to underail the thread now, because there are so many better things to talk about

What? GRRM has said many times that the show writers do what they want with the show. He hasn't been active for the show since the Purple Wedding

Oh, and to top this off, I'm staying with my parents tonight, and my mom walks in the second they put her at the stake. She says "I want to see what this show's about. My friends all talk about it." I tell her to get out immediately, and then she starts freaking out realizing what the situation is thinking I'm a depraved sadist over this. She then proceeds to go chew my dad out for recommending that she watches it with him (he waits for the DVDs).

D & D went through all of the character's story lines with him. I hate to break it to you, but at some point, we're probably supposed to hate ' the Mannis.'

I can't wait for the "Happy Father's Day" memes with Shireen and Stannis that are sure to come out.

Signed off on allowing them to make his books into a show is about it, he has no real say at this point with what the producers do. Not like they haven't done things that he disagrees with multiple times by now.

That Stannis scene was just horrible. Worst moment of the series by far. It ruined an otherwise good episode.

No "what" to it. We get it. You hate everything about the show and it's writers. Guess what? GRRM went over with them where certain characters are supposed to go and felt comfortable enough to bow out writing episodes. You think D&D didn't run this stuff by him? You're awfully naive.

He was my ultimate low bar before now, but Stannis has just surpassed him.
I mean, really, after the greyscale scene, they decide to do this with the character? What the frick? Stannis is wholly despicable now and he needs to become a White Walker to where he feels as if his soul is eternally on fire.

I guarantee he didn't specifically sign off on them burning Shireen alive.
