Seriously. An off-screen death is almost always for heroes, not daughter burning monsters. Brienne would be more deserving of an off-screen death than Stannis.

What are we using to determine whether someone is dead or not? We've only gotten to see a handful of funerals, so does that mean everyone else MIGHT BE still alive?

I mean, I think Jon Snow dies. He's dead. So I don't think it's a lie in that regard. And I'm being silent about it would do nothing but foster rumors that he isn't. He wouldn't be the first cast member to lead us on in that regard (i.e. Lena and her Stoneheart shite).
But I also think it's no coincidence that Melisandre showed up when she did. And if he is dead and not resurrected with everything in the books that has pointed to that, then GRRM is a shittier writer than I have given him credit for at this juncture.

Honestly I don't put anything past GRRM. But I would be totally shocked if Jon stays dead. But I don't think GRRM cares if he pisses off his entire fanbase.
