for Tyrion, I've accepted his death even though he's a favorite character. I hope he lives, but I'm not sure how he'll wiggle out of the trial by combat outcome. I don't really see him escaping KL and then living in exile.

That's really why I don't see the point in him living IMO.
I think Jon Snow and Dany are some of the only safe characters in the show. Bran is probably safe for now too, IMO.

I think Tyrion's going down, not much else left for him to do IMO.
Jon Snow on the other hand, has plenty of story left in him.
Pretty much my view as well.
I think Jaime is a wildcard tho as far as Tyrion's survival - he holds some power because Twyin still needs a male heir to his dynasty.

Tyrian to be sentenced to death, he was to ask for mercy and be sent to the wall.
Tyrion on the Wall would be epic... his time on the Wall in Season 1 was really great to watch.

remember the talk between Jamie and Tyrian after Bran "fell"?
I don't think he just accepts death. He can destroy the family by spilling the beans about Joffrey and the claim to the Throne. Tywin et al have no authority to be judges. I don't see him just accepting death without fricking up some shite before he goes.

Jaime Lannister: But even if the boy lives he would be a cripple, a grotesque. Give me a good, clean death anyday.
Tyrion Lannister: Speaking for the grotesques, I have to disagree. Death is so final, yet life is full of possibilities.

I just want that old fricker at the wall to die. the one thats a dick to Jon. Jon needs to slice his arse up

Ironic now, that's he's missing his sword hand (but not the hand he pushed Bran with - I checked.)
I wonder if those 2 will ever meet again for Jaime to be able to apologize - he does seem a changed man, particularly after losing the hand.

I think Jon comes away as leader of the crows....they said as much 2-3 episodes ago didn't they? Someone told old dude that the crows would eventually back him, so it would be wise to let him go off on his own and get himself killed.

That exchange after Varys was questioned during the trial just didn't seem right. Remember when Oberyn asked Varys about how he got cut and Varys told him that he only tells that story to people he trusts? Well, Varys told Tyrion that story a couple of seasons ago while he was opening up the crate with the magician that cut him in it. Varys and Tyrion trusted each other and were the closest thing to friends in any of the characters.
I'm tending to think that Varys realized that no matter what happened, Tyrion was going to be convicted. So, Varys gets up there and testifies truthfully to any direct question to avoid anyone with a penchant for games and thrones thinking he was in collusion with anyone or lying. Of course, Tyrion (and we) think that Varys has turned his back on him, but I think that Varys has a plan to save Tyrion after the trial. Varys' motivations seem to be what's best for the realm, and as long as the Lannisters are in charge, Varys has to realize that Tyrion needs to be alive because he's the only one who's A) Not crazy, B) Not Evil, C) Not Jamie.
What that plan is, I have no idea.

Varys has been absent from the story recently, so I agree he may have a role to play in Tyrion's fate.

as was Littlefinger and the poisoned necklace....so very plausible....and I would have no problem with it.

He's not really a changes man, he's just been misunderstood from the start really. That came out during his travels with Brienne

IDK - he was humbled quite a bit since the first season.
Captured. Loses hand. Can't fight anymore. Cersei moved on.
I agree he was misunderstood to some degree because everyone he met thought he had no honor (ie Kingslayer, etc) and deep down he knew he did the right thing.

OOh, he'll apologize alright, Bran will warg him and choke himself with his good hand

In a way, he's kind of like HAL in 2001 - given 2 conflicting priorities, he sort of just went bonkers - at least for a while.

I don't see Tywin actually killing his own son tho.
Why? He almost did it as a baby but feared what the gods would do. Last week the gods spoke.

did Tywin tell Tyrian that?....I don't remember hearing that...was it Cersi who told him that?

He never went bonkers. He saved KL and was shamed for it.
If Cersei didn't exist, Jamie would probably be the most honorable man in the shows history (even over Ned, which had the rule book so far up his arse that it blinded him)

Pretty sure Tywin told him when Tyrion asked for Casterly Rock but it could have been someone else.
Posted on 6/7/14 at 1:26 pm to UMRealist
I don't think Tywin believes in any Gods. It would just be a huge no-no to kill your son as a high born, even if he's an imp.
