streamlining the non-interesting & bare material,
I keep seeing people say this but I thoroughly enjoyed every part of the book. I honestly didn't find any part uninteresting or bare

As awesome as A Storm of Swords is, I think the show really fricked it up this season. I told every Hodor I know before the season started that this would be the greatest season of tv ever. Boy was I wrong.
This season dragged in places and was boring sometimes. Then they rushed through VERY important storylines like Sansa/LF, Tyrion in the cells and his trial, etc etc.
To me the show is getting worse. I know a bunch of people rag on AFFC and aDwD but they are really great books and I don't think they suck or are boring. I enjoyed them just as much if not more than the first three. So I don't look forward to the show deviating from the books as much even though I know some is needed in any adaptation.
Based on the things that D&D have done on their own and how they've completely ruined aSoS on screen I can say we better all hope they don't beat GRRM to the end because they will screw it up big time

Yeah, but fricking Shae, while still atrocious, wasn't as bad as having his wife gang rapped by the entire household guard and having Tyrion finish her off. To find out that that was completely a lie I think is what justifies it. At least bring up that, since I think that was worse than what Tywin did to Tyrion this season. And if you say "he killed him over Shae", why was he up there in the first place?

They were always wights I believe. I think there are very few direct confrontations with the WWs in the book- Waymar Royce, Sam, others are just talked about.
I haven't minded the TV show overall, but the adaptation has proven how such grand parts in the novels can be rendered less emotional in video format vs character's thoughts. I ADORE the Reek/Theon characterization in the book, and the TV show has just butchered it mercilessly. Regardless, there is simply no way they are going to be able to get the pathos of the Ghost of Winterfell chapter right. I have accepted it.

Watched the hound brienne fight a bunch now. Best part is when she punched him in the junk then she's crawling on the ground and the hound kicks her placing the point of his boot right into her snatch. Didn't seem too comfortable.

The ending of that fight was pretty fricking cool. Well done Lady Brienne

Hodor talking about Dany...
Little does he know that show Dany is more exciting that book Dany... And she still sucks

Welcome aboard. One of the main reasons I want to read the books is to see what Martin does with her. There's no way she's as worthless. Her story once again went nowhere this year besides Jorah.

They weren't white walker in the book or show. They were wights, and wights that had been dead for a while at that. While the total evil dead/pirates look was a bit much probably, they should have been very decayed wights.

I thought removing the reveal to Tyrion that Tysha was not a whore and not a set up to deceive him but did love him was a disappointment. That aside, I thought the Tyrion/Tywin scene was well done. And I thought Tywin's portrayal both in that scene and earlier with Cersi was interesting. He was not nearly as intimidating in either scene as he usually is and I think that at least keeps alive the Crackpot theories that someone (Red Viper) had poisoned him previously. Still don't really buy that theory though.
I did think it was very strange that neither Shae nor Tywin thought to scream or call out. Certainly Tywin would have had guards close by his chamber. But that didn't really bother me.
I thought the Hound/Brenne fight was well done. And the ending keeps the Gravedigger theory alive.
I was disappointed that that there was no screaming from the Mountain. I thought he screamed constantly and not even milk of the poppy helped?

Was the Bran storyline at the end in SoS? Its been a while since i read it but i don't recall that part with the wights or Jojen dying. Is that from another book? there have been a few times this season that they pulled a storyline that i wasn't familiar with. like Reek and Ramsey. Is that just for the show or is that in another book?
quote:me too. they could have eased Oberyn death for the fans by giving him more credit for potentially killing the Mountain - at least putting him in severe agony.

Both of these are from the 5th book.

Jojen doesn't explicitly die in the books. He goes missing in the tree/cave complex and a lot of people assumed he is dead and some assume that the weirwood paste Bran eats has Jojen in it (ie: Jojen paste).
But while he may well be dead, we don't know that for sure. And I think the Jojen paste theory is probably less likely than him being dead.
The interesting thing about this episode is that some of the posts in this thread seem to think that Jojen's death in the show confirms the Jojen paste theory while others assume it refutes it. When I saw his on screen death my first reaction was "well, so much for the Jojen paste theory" because he was killed outside and surrounded by wights.

Dude. You don't buy anything that isn't straight out the book. In the books did you forget that she was actually beating Jaime the great Kingslayer?
Jaime was bound and half starved though. In full form, Brienne wouldn't stand a chance against Jaime.

I didn't like that Bloodraven had two eyes, if that is really him.

In the show they have him with two good eyes. He lost his left eye in the Blackfyre Rebellion.
