I just don't buy it. I think so long as the Hound wasn't drunk when facing her, he'd beat the shite out of her.
Dude. You don't buy anything that isn't straight out the book. In the books did you forget that she was actually beating Jaime the great Kingslayer?

I've pulled out my books and I'm starting a re-read tomorrow. But I'm to curious to wait, have they ever said WHY the iron coin from Jaqen is so important? I don't think she ever ran across one in her faceless man training, but it's been awhile since I read it.

This was a very bad ending and I am a huge fan of the series.
I was pissed we saw that as the last scene.
Stannis could have been better and been the end.
I really wanted to see Lady Stoneheart.
I don't know about the death of Jojen and the skeleton zombies.

Please, to the old gods and the new, let LSH be the last scene/cliffhanger.
I'll be pissed if it isn't.

First off, it was due to be an "ice" ending based on the alternating years, and Arya, as a faceless apprentice is definitely put into direct opposition to dragons, based on the history of Braavos and the faceless men. As was intimated in this episode as well, Jon Snow is actually more fire. In the book, he is actually the both combined- the white and the red- a scene north of the wall which I really hope they recreate next season because it was one of my favorite parts of the book.
I was originally pissed about no LSH, but I can live with it if she ends the first episode next season.
Oh, one last thing-- the guy who plays the Hound so deserves a damn Emmy. He was incredible this season. I love the Hound in the book as well, but the actor has given this character amazing depth and quick humor as well.

Doing a boiled leather reread, it is way better than reading them separately.
Ok, had to go to the hospital in the middle of the 8:00 episode and just got back and finished. thoughts on the good and the bad:
- Hate to say I told you so, but I had a feeling that D&D would chop Tysha and that Shae would be the "whore". Having the conversation with Jaime and really setting that up would have taken too long, one of those examples of having the deeper story in the books that the show would have trouble pulling off. Until they showed Shae in the previews this week, I wasn't even sure that they would keep the scene with Tyrion killing her but that she might take the place of Tysha. That said, I liked the scene and frankly "where do whores go" gets annoying pretty quickly, so I'm cool with it.
- Hound/Arya/Brienne also happened almost exactly as I had thought that it would, all the way down to the last line being "of course, you will have a cabin". Wasn't happy earlier this week when it became clear that Brienne and the Hound would fight because of the possible impact on the grave digger scene, but it could work. I could see Brienne seeing him from behind, thinking that he looks familiar but blowing it off because she thinks he's dead.
- Dany's scene went about the way that everyone expected
- Missed the mark badly on the Wall, though. The first part went as expected except for no Dalla and no baby. Stannis to the rescue, as expected. Then...I really thought that they would take that further. Stannis showing up and them burning their dead was essentially all that we got. My guess that thorne would name Jon the LC was WAY off, they didn't even get close. No wildlings through the Wall either. And Davos was at the Wall, not on his way to White Harbor.
- Bran happened about as close to the way it did in the books as it could have without Coldhands. Now we know that it probably was Jojen paste after all. Seems somewhat more humane and heroic that he died the way that he did in the show and that the Children didn't kill him and process him. Of course, the not knowing is more ominous and adds to the feeling of unease and uncertainty of whether the Children and Bloodraven are truly friend or foe. The fireballs seemed over the top, too. The Children set the wights on fire in the book, but I think it was done the old fashioned way with torches, the book never really specifies.
- No LSH. Really thought they would end with that. You know, it would be a long time lapse, but they could end next season with her and the reveal would be when she hangs Brienne and Pod.
- The scene with Qyburn and the Mountain wasn't expected, but it was a good scene.
- Overall I thought it was a great episode. Disappointed in no LSH, and although "where do whores go?" gets old in the books, the Tysha story was a big deal and I was hoping that I had that one wrong and that they would leave it in.

perhaps they were afraid her appearance would over shadow tywin's death. a death of that magnitude didn't need to be overshadowed

Sorry, man, didn't answer that question. I don't believe that they ever say point blank, but it's implied that the coin marks her as a faceless man. In the book, everyone on the ship treats her with respect, but most are wary. They all make sure that she knows their names and that she remembers that they helped her. And, of course, they drop her off at the House of Black and White.

the exchange with Tywinn was made all about Shae. I guess that is enough. But they so set up "where do whores go?" and then it wasn't used.
The Hound didn't bother me, but Brienne meeting Arya did.

yrion gave him a mocking half bow. “My lord.”
“Tyrion.” If he was afraid, Tywin Lannister gave no hint of it. “Who released you from your cell?”
“I’d love to tell you, but I swore a holy oath.”
“The eunuch,” his father decided. “I’ll have his head for this. Is that my crossbow? Put it down.”
“Will you punish me if I refuse, Father?”
“This escape is folly. You are not to be killed, if that is what you fear. It’s still my intent to send you to the Wall, but I could not do it without Lord Tyrell’s consent. Put down the crossbow and we will go back to my chambers and talk of it.”
“We can talk here just as well. Perhaps I don’t choose to go to the Wall, Father. It’s bloody cold up there, and I believe I’ve had enough coldness from you. So just tell me something, and I’ll be on my way. One simple question, you owe me that much.”
“I owe you nothing.”
“You’ve given me less than that, all my life, but you’ll give me this. What did you do with Tysha?”
“Tysha?”
He does not even remember her name. “The girl I married.”
“Oh, yes. Your first whore.”
Tyrion took aim at his father’s chest. “The next time you say that word, I’ll kill you.”
“You do not have the courage.”
“Shall we find out? It’s a short word, and it seems to come so easily to your lips.” Tyrion gestured impatiently with the bow. “Tysha. What did you do with her, after my little lesson?”
“I don’t recall.”
“Try harder. Did you have her killed?”
His father pursed his lips. “There was no reason for that, she’d learned her place… and had been well paid for her day’s work, I seem to recall. I suppose the steward sent her on her way. I never thought to inquire.”
“On her way where?”
“Wherever whores go.”
Tyrion’s finger clenched. The crossbow whanged just as Lord Tywin started to rise. The bolt slammed into him above the groin and he sat back down with a grunt. The quarrel had sunk deep, right to the fletching. Blood seeped out around the shaft, dripping down into his pubic hair and over his bare thighs. “You shot me,” he said incredulously, his eyes glassy with shock.
“You always were quick to grasp a situation, my lord,” Tyrion said. “That must be why you’re the Hand of the King.”
“You… you are no… no son of mine.”
“Now that’s where you’re wrong, Father. Why, I believe I’m you writ small. Do me a kindness now, and die quickly. I have a ship to catch.”
the way it should of happened
