But that's the show, not the books. Varys certainly goaded Tyrion into killing him in the books and gave incredibly specific details on how to get into Tywin's bedchamber. He never fooled me for a second that that was what he wanted.

yeah he told him how many doors down the hall it was and everything. he wanted Tywin dead in the books.

Or did he want Tywin dead at Tyrion's hands? I think Tywin was already a goner.

FWIW I still think that for both the books and the show that Jaime and Varys had been discussing Tyrion's fate behind the scenes and what to do with him if the Red Viper died. Varys (at least in the books) knew that with getting rid of Tywin and Kevan that the time was right for Faegon to come to Westeros to be a good ruler, unlike Cersei. Next season is going to delve big time into her descent into craziness...and telling people to "take them to Qyburn."

Varys may take the role of Illyrio next season.

I don't see why they wouldn't bring Illyrio back. He was in S1 after all and they showed the scene with Arya looking for cats and seeing those two talking about the 'timing not being right' (in reference to Blue Hair Aegon).

Forgot all about that. In fact, I have forgotten about a lot of those little nuggets placed throughout the series. I am going to need to go back and rewatch.

They mentioned Tysha in season 1 as well, but still chose to cut her out of yesterday's episode.

No Ilyrio means Varys would definitely be Serra's brother/Aegon's uncle.

Why do I remember Arya shoving Needle through The Hounds eye at a tree? I'm starting the book series over this week.

If he saddles up and rides one of Dany's dragons, there will be little debate.

Yeah, but I think the ability to ride a dragon will make or break Ageon.

Probably break.

Have you read "The Princess and the Queen"?

There's a ton of history and info about dragon riding in there.
