Cersei was just trolling book readers that crazy bitch plays the long game.

I did really like the episode, but watching on HBOGo, kept on thinking "no Stoneheart" and "get on with it" even with completely enjoyable scenes. Tyrion killing Tywin was fine on it's own terms, I just don't think it measures up to this.
I'm going to disagree, but because of the emotions Dinklage conveyed in the Shae scene. They way GRRM has it written, Tyrion is almost flippant. After seeing it played out and reading the part from the book again, the book version doesn't really catch me as heavy enough.
I loved the fight between the Hound and "Brienne of fricking Tarth". My guess is she's going to matter in future books/episodes so they did this to build her up more (because she hasn't had a lot of on-camera battles to legitimize her combat skills). It also changed Arya's leaving a bit... she had a definitely safe way to go (with Brienne) but chose to start making her own way whereas in the book she didn't have any choice.
I'm not too worried about the "where do whores go" line, I felt like it started becoming a bit psychotic-sounding as time went on. What I was hoping for though was "I guess he doesn't shite gold after all".
I think LSH would have been a bit much with Shae, Tywin & the Hound dying. Not only that, but they need to leave some big things for next season. LSH will probably be the 2nd or 3rd episode's "big event" (or whichever episode is the one they usually do big things for the first part of the season).

How badass was Leaf's fireballs though? The COTF kick arse.

I have a feeling the shite gold line will likely come up next season either between Varys and Tyrion or whispered at Tywin's funeral.
They sort of screwed up the Stannis arrival. IT was just stupid to me after talking about 100,000 to only have 10 or so people in each frame, and like I said a cavalry charge into a forest is just laughably ridiculous.
How bad arse was it that Tyrion reloaded, though? Loved that!

I'm really sad the show is passing the books

As much as I hoped for LSH, it wouldn't have fit the "The Children" theme...

I really don't get y'all's obsession with the LSH storyline being the ending. The Freys haven't been mentioned since the RW, and neither has Catelyn Stark really, it would have been a random thing to just throw into the story at this point. Even in the books LSH hasn't really factored much into the overall story besides the Brienne part, it would have made no sense to throw it in this season and all of the Hodors would've been confused as frick

Seeing them wheeling around between the Wall and the forest was an impressive site, as was the 2nd prong coming in from the other side. Charging through the woods was a bit... unorthodox... but how many Hodors are going to be versed enough in medieval war tactics to know that? The numbers thing bothered me too, but I guess sometimes you just have to let details go when you have so many moving parts to consider.

It'll happen at some point.

It will still be just as wtf next season.

On the show yes, but I think it does confirm that the blood of Jojen WAS in the paste in the book.
The theory: THE COTF give Bran a pasty substance that he has to eat to truly "see" all there is. In the book, the description makes it very equivocal if it is just mashed up weirwood roots or if the blood red streaks are actually blood.
Yeah, this. Jojen basically disappears in the 5th book once they get to the cave and Bran starts the process of getting turned into a tree. Meera is freaked out trying to find him. Bran is fed some paste and he seems to think it is kinda bloody.

So just finished the episode and catching up on the thread. Have to say the LSH is getting kinda blown out of proportion, yes that was a great way to end book 3 and we all could have expected it to cap this season but now looking back on all that happened this season it would have been too much for a finale IMO. I was actually expecting Jon to be named Commander in this finale a few weeks back but after last weeks episode that would have felt rushed. We can thank Lena for baiting us into thinking we were going to get LSH this season, from all those stone heart photos circulating the internet only fueled readers expectation to end on LSH. Would have it been nice? Oh yeah buddy, but as a reader I was really pleased by this Finale considering the previous finales have been somewhat lacking IMO.
I watched with a Hodor so I had to explain the children of the forest to him. He thought it was the same girl/assassin from season 3 who tried to take out dany with the ball and poisonous bug.
I'd be all for a Tyrion and Varys road trip across Essos to meet Dany.
Looking forward to Dorne and the iron island storylines next season.
Anywho. Solid finale.
ETA: Since I was expecting LSH to show up like most readers I thought it'd be LSH walking up the wounded Hound. Cut to black.

No I mean confused in a bad way, as in "Wait who is that? Wtf was that about, that made absolutely no sense with no background info and didn't fit into the story"

The Hodors are in full "WTF" mode anyway after everything that happened. Gotta leave some for next season ;)

It really won't be. That's something you end a season on. Do you think if LOST waited until the middle of the season to do the epic twist of the Season 3 finale that it would have been effective if it was answered or referred to the next week? No, it wouldn't. It's something to leave you with to ponder for a while.

Don't know why ya'll have such a hard on for the Hodors to be confused all the time.
Posted on 6/15/14 at 10:23 pm to OMLandshark
They'll probably build up the Freys story with the Boltons and end season 5 with it.
