One of you jerks want to go to the Crackpot thread and discuss the Lannister Honeypot theory with me?

Whatever happened to Robert's men?
I know all the king current army is Lannister.
But we know Baratheon was and is still technically the ruling house.
So are there no Baratheon men loyal to the crown, or did they all go to Renly then on to Stannis?
They never mention the Storm Lands, except in the last episode when saying where Robert's crypt was.

Seems like after Robert's death, his forces broke into 3 factions:
1) Gold Cloaks/Lannisters (loyalists)
2) Renly's forces
3) Stannis' forces
After the shade killed Renly, most of Renly's forces joined Stannis, I believe. Every time the crown needs more men, it seems they look to Casterly Rock. If any Baratheon men remain in the royal army, they would seem to be an ever decreasing faction.

Pretty sure anyone loyal to Robert fought for Stannis

some of them sided with stannis, but alot of renly's forces were tyrell liege lords, so they went back to they tyrell camp to join them

This is a good point. It's always kind of bothered me hat the ruling monarch is supposed to be Baratheon but they never really tried much to play up that aspect of it. It's pretty much all Lannister all the time in King's Landing (well up until the Tyrell's showed up like like some nouveau riche Rodney Dangerfield n Caddyshack and started throwing their flowers around). And that was mostly because Loras got ticked off that his boyfriend was offed by the shadow monster from Melisandre's nether regions.
You would think that Robert, as a pretty seasoned war lord would have had a ton of fiercely loyal Baretheon men in strategic positions around King's landing who would have at least considered the fact that Stannis and Renley were onto something about the Lannister incest. (Although I admit all that dark of hair stuff did not really come across as that convincing to me if not for the fact that we were privy to the incest from the Winterfell episode).

anybody think this might happen if they run out of material before GRRM finishes book 6?

yea but if you remember from the first book, robert talked about how the greatest time he ever had was gaining the throne, and everything after that he pretty much didnt bother with.
then it also mentions that as a favor to tywin for all the money he's borrowed, cersei as the queen, and jamie as the person that killed aerys, he would take a bunch of the lannisters into his service
and the majority of the gold cloaks seemed to just be fighters from kings landing and around the realm who didnt care abou lieges as long as they got paid

Don't know about a prequel. But that part of the story does have some of the best art around:

Nope, the show will end up lapping the books if GRRM doesn't get in gear.
It would be a cool spin-off series though

that helm would be a liability.
Also looks like neither could open. Still cool though.
