It was actually even lamer than that. fricking Bronn takes Highgarden... The frick?

Bronn still being relevant was pure fan service. But than again so much of season 7 and 8.

D&D knew they weren’t putting together the best effort they could so they decided to try to make the show Hollywood cool so people would still like it. I remember talking bad season 7 was unpopular up until season 8 happened. So that approach worked for awhile.

S7 where the last 2 eps were awesome beyond belief

Battle of the bastards and winds of winter where Cersei blew up the cept rt

Also I believe beyond the wall with all the random soldiers of the series reunited to capture one of the dead

S7 was dope some of s8 was too

The last episode got me hyped (Rhaegor was a bit disappointing ) but The Beyond the Wall episode was arguably one of the dumbest and most Hollywood cool like episodes in the entire series.

I still don't hate everything about the last season like most people. I thought the acting was great, the music was phenomenal, and it looked pretty. I didn't even hate where everyone ended up so much, but how the characters got there (RUSHED).

I agree with you on all of this. There were truly incredible moments throughout, just didn’t make sense in the greater context because a show that was made on slowly building the story decided to rush the ending. I could have been on board with most characters endings IF the arcs would have built to it better.

Much of it was just nonredeemable - the White Walkers being dispatched so quickly, Jamie’s ending with Cersei, Bran the fricking Broken - all terrible decisions.

I’m all for reading the last books if GRRM ever finishes and has the balls to make major changes. Otherwise, ain’t happening.

The only good part of the final season was the final battle between the Hound and The Mountain.

That’s what I’m talking about. The story quality, which was top notch, started to really fall apart. D&D were rushing things and knew the story was going to falter so they just focused on making things look cool. People were blinded by it until S8 wrapped up.

Now I’m not saying you can’t like, I get it if you do.

S7’s last two episodes were fricking terrible. I argue that’s when it jumped the shark. Jon going north of the Wall to find a wight to convince Cersei? Tyrion going into the Red Keep and wasn’t killed by Cersei? Sorry, these are the two dumbest and most unbelievable story devices taken up to that point in the show.

Maybe one of the best chapters George has written. Just a big Lovecraftian homage and sets up Euron as the biggest villain in the series so far, not a small achievement with the Boltons, Freys, and Joffrey all in contention.

Instead we got that clown who wouldn’t shut up about trying to fook the Queen.

Sitting on a throne built on top all the dead gods of that world except the Old Gods of the North. Throw in the Dragonhorn that his brother is about to blow and it’s just a ticking time bomb.

God damn the fat man needs to release that book already.

The show completely died to me in S8 when they spent a whole episode about Jaime making Brienne a Knight.

I was late to the GOT party. When I started binging the first few seasons in 2016, I remember thinking I couldn't wait to do a re-watch.

Boy, that desire died.

It ruined both the story arcs. What should have happened is Jaime makes her a knight, Brienne saves Jaime during the battle and dies. Jaime survives, gives her a Knight’s funeral or some symbolic gesture and goes down to King’s Landing and somehow manages to kill Cersei. Not hold her in his fricking arms and have both of them killed by falling bricks

all of this
“A knight of the seven kingdoms” was an island of competent storytelling in a sea of shite that was the last season. It was a perfect end to brienne’s story and the redemption that Jaime deserved.

then they immediately ruined it

Crazy that I have zero intention to ever watch what I thought was the GOAT show ever again because of the last two seasons

Its heartbreaking.

It literally ruins the previous 7 seasons. I dont care how good they are. Knowing whats coming ruins every scene in that show.
