yeah, I didn't really want him to get resurrected by Mel beforehand, only because we've seen the red God and Mel be incredibly evil )Shireens), and I didn't want Jon stuck at the hip to that religion. But they kind of maneuvered away from that by basically saying Mel's power is more like Magic tricks than miracles

I don't think you know who Azora Ahai is then

I see some people though Jon should have been resurrected in the flames, and I agree.
I thought the show was setting that scene up with foreshadowing. Particularly deviating from Maester Aemon's death in the books.
But, I'm fine with the way it happened. A nod to the Ghost theories included in the scene as well. Plus, Jon isn't "the dragon" or the "mother of dragons" - he needs a different story - and different "return" if you will.

I guess not close, and no, I don't remember the character Azora

It's the name for what boils down to the Fire Gods version of Jesus. It's who Mel thought Stannis was.

In every fantasy movie or story there always seems to be a "price" for bringing back someone from the dead. Do yall think Jon's just back and everything will be normal? And if not, what do you think that price may be?
Sorry if already discussed.

Makes sense, in context, too. Otherwise, they'd bring everyone back.

Absolutely not. I've been assuming that Melisandre has to die to accomplish this. That doesn't appear to have happened on the show. We'll see.
In the show, we've had Dondarrion. He pays the price for coming back, though, not Thoros. We have Frankenmountain, as well, although we do not know the exact price at this point. Obviously, it appears he retains no individuality or will of his own - he is the personification of Cersei's rage at this point.
In the books, we have those, plus LSH - again, with a cost.

No one had to die for Berrick Dondarrian to come back to life 6 times
Posted on 5/2/16 at 8:28 am to Byron Bojangles III
but he didn't just come back 100% either
Posted on 5/2/16 at 8:33 am to Salmon
He still seemed relatively normal even after the sixth time

I can see this. And I think I would be happiest with that story line. Jon is back 100%, and Melisandre sacrificed herself to keep the prophecy alive. I just don't want Jon to be some shadow of himself, or some half demon.
This is why I was hoping everyone was right about the rebirth by fire theories.

except that he kept all the injuries and he lost memories each time he was brought back

it's kind of silly that he was the champion for the trial by combat if he was physically hurt from all his deaths

volunteer the guy who doesn't die or the one who does?
Posted on 5/2/16 at 8:39 am to Kujo
but he's likely to lose against any guy worth a frick, so their trial is pointless

Guess we'll see next episode how he acts

No, but there was a cost. He was weaker and changed every time. In the books, he had an additional cost with regards to LSH.

The original actor that played Beric lost his job...that was the price.

I was hoping he would be a dragon. I'm really thinking he may well be. Unless we get a curveball and Jon was never in the TOJ.
