quote:apparently the finale is a great example of why you should read the books even if it reveals future plot lines. this was a huge deal in the book but turned into a yawner (to some) when translated to screen.
Exactly
does not change the fact that Danaerys Stormborn has a heroic pair of tits though.

God I hope we get to see her riding a dragon bare back and naked

Could happen eventually and would be great if it did.
***Semi-spoiler, but not really***
She will dress in the future in a style that leaves one breast exposed, so we've got that to look forward to.

Revealing how Ned's father and brother die is a fairly massive spoiler. If it was not revealed in the show, then it means it might be in the future. If it hasn't been revealed in the show, then I think you should keep it out of a non-bookreader thread.
Let the show speak for itself. Just IMO.

The producers have said they are probably going to leave that Mereeneese fashion out.

It was definitely in the show.

quote:that's kinda weird; they haven't shied away from T&A in the other episodes/story lines and even added some that wasn't in the book. funny they'd leave that out.

Maybe they have to pay her per second of nip.

The nipple tax. Sounds like something Littlefinger would come up with.

So now my two favorite characters are dead and it's only the first season.
I will say that I'm going to take up reading the books. The differences in the dragon reveal between the show and the book prove that this is going to be a worthwhile venture. It's not like I wouldn't have started reading them any way, but I think most people agree, books are almost always better than on screen portrayals. I've already started book 1 and am amazed at how "by-the-book" it is. It's obviously not as detailed but they have done a really good job so far.
I do love Arya's path. She's now got to pretend to be a boy and is headed for the wall. Could be tons of story-lines there for her. Also, loved the "king of the north" scene and the "Kill them all" line from Catlyn. And I love Daenerys being a bad arse Dragon queen. She lost everything only to come out of season 1 looking like she has the most power. I'm dying to know how she uses this new found dragon stuff to further her agenda. So even though they killed the two strongest male characters, I'm still loving this story.

speaking of littlefinger......
The whore with the old guy is littlefinger's right?
I just think the old guy is way smarter then we think.....
Other Recaps from last night.
I love Sansa contemplating suicide and then contemplating pushing Jeoffry off the wall...
On that note it seemed like we saw a soft side to the Hound.
I can't believe they didn't frick up Jaime while they have him chained up.... maybe not kill him but I would of messed him up good.
With Tyrion (sp?) going to kings landing what happens with the wildling army he has? Also, I saw someone else here ask .. but how is he going to get away with bitch slapping a King?
Good finale overall... I saw the dragons thing coming but it was still neat... that witch needed to die.. I'm glad they showed her unforgiving motivation.
It's going to be a long wait for next season.

yeah def an act, but why? And why show it in the season finale? What's his angle?

agreed... I'm sure he knows the whore will report back to her boss.... So I guess littlefinger will just hear that he is old and slow so maybe he won't worry about him for now...
Maybe it's just job security

Exactly. He wants to be seen as a doddering old man that has served many kings, when in fact, he's still sharp.

That is one relationship that the show has done a poor job of explaining compared to the book. The Hound and Sansa have a very interesting relationship starting about midway through the first book (beginning with the night after the Hand's Tournament.)

Just finished watching Fire and Blood. Though I consider the name of the series, Game of Thrones, less than inspirational, it is shaping up to become one of my all time favorites. Every scene is compelling. The plot, character development and portrayal is excellent. The final scene of Fire and Blood was magnificent. I could hardly ask for more.

I know people who've read the books will say that I should go back and read the first. But I honestly probably wont do that. So, after watching season1, what would I be missing if I started reading book 2?

quote:you could probably do it and catch up on most of what you missed but i would still recommend reading the first one.
go back and read the first
i guess the main thing you're missing out on is the dire wolves and the depth of each character, particularly The Hound.
