The rest of the season is going to be awesome knowing what happens from the books.

The gratuitousness was awesome. Greatest...expository....scene...ever. Probably.

I've just now started the books again for a second read. I quit during book 4, but I figured I'd give it another go since the 5th book is coming out soon. I've really enjoyed watching the series with friends who haven't read the book so I can see their reactions during the plot twists.

I've started reading the books a couple weeks ago and I think i'm finally caught up to the show. Both are great.

And now that 7 has officially aired, I can post my words as it ended last week

"That mother fricker..." But on seeing it the 2nd time, damn, he pretty much spelled out that he was going to frick over Ned in that great exposition scene.

I felt the writers may have telegraphed Littlefinger's actions at the end of the episode a little too much with this scene.

Would it have been better for it to have been more of a surprise?

Could the exposition scene have been moved to AFTER the betrayal? How about to another episode that aired previously... to put some distance between the speech and the act?

It's a medium-grade nitpick for me, but it seemed to me that the "I am a very bad guy who specifically wants revenge on the Starks" speech was kind of a pedestrian move in the same episode as the betrayal.

But overall... it's a great show. I can watch it over and over and still get drawn in.

Loved this episode. Sam showing his smarts and usefulness already by helping Jon see the truth.

I know it isnt in Ned's character to accept Renly's offer but dammit I always want him to. I had that same feeling during the episode so well done there. Loved seeing Sandor be a badass during the fighting in the throne room. Don't mess with the hound. Gods does the kid that plays joff make me want to punch him.

Again, the last episode is the best. I love this show.

The series has made Selmy look a bit weak, IMO. In this episode he read the King's words and believed them true, why did he just stand aside?

I worry if the season finale will turn people off the show. Everything has been so well done thus far but...

I don't think so. You have to take it as a series just like the books.

If they end with the same scene as the book then I think it will be great.

There is one thing that would give you quite the advantage when facing him (hope that's not too spoilery).

I'd like to punch the book Joffrey as well, so I guess the actor is doing a good job.
