Go back and watch that last scene really, really closely. Specifically her reflection when she looks out the window.
Just went back and looked. It was so subtle I was still questioning if the reflection looked different than her. The reflection did appear to be a blonde.
ETA: Has there been a solid explanation for the role the dogs are playing?

I know what the symbol means
It’s rudimentary dream catcher
They gave it away during the wedding ceremony
The dream catcher was in the window in between them, center shot, in the place of the priest
They are in a dream world trapped in a shared consciousness where their desires, fears, stories become real over time.
Everything that became “real” was in their heads first. Think about how the town has changed over the years.
Think about the black dude having a dream about ole girl being pregnant then she was
The mom was sent to the light house, a “light in the darkness” (a giant nightlight), Boyd stopped the music box meant to put kids to sleep. He stopped it. Those two scenes together - dream over for her.
She now is effectively “off the island” and she must save the kids there in the real world.

Here’s what people are referring too

And for those that don’t recognize the face, it’s a monster from season 1.

I’m looking at the town and didn’t see that, I definitely don’t remember the reflection from Season 1.
SPOILERS
I thought for sure the 3 were about to become Monsters.

You can tell that from that pic?

Stream of consciousness post:
So the theory of this place bringing fears to life. I like the theory of the monsters being from Victor’s sister’s drawings. Maybe the lighthouse is a bad thing and victors sister was drawing shite that scared her.
Jade’s onto something with the “finding pieces that connect” thing. He should be like let’s all meet at the diner and discuss all the shite we all know.
The Sara thing in the church (?) is as weird. She’s saying Boyd has to stop the music, but that’s supposedly a bad thing. Is she working for the bad guys, so to speak?
Locking the guns outside in a shed seems stupid.
“Nature will always put what’s precious in the spots most difficult to reach.” Hmmm. And he even alludes to this spot being “natural.”
Yeah this new dude Reggie is shady as frick. And he’s murdering old boy and stealing a gun.
Let the subtitles the kids in the cave were all saying “Anghkooey.” No idea what that is.
So Victor is confused by the bottle tree location. So maybe there’s still something to his whole “the trees are moving” thing.
Of course Reggie shoots Boyd. All these major injuries on this show, and people just sort of walk them off.
What’s the significance of the torch? Is it special or is it just the light he needs to see inside the building? Interesting. And Julie, Randall, and Marielle are down there. That’s pretty cool.
“Hope is what makes you willing to suffer.” “It’s not your fear that feeds the forest, it’s hope.” Yikes.
This is getting good.
So he destroys the music box and they are released. So all the talk about something bad happening when the music stops was just bullshite I guess?
Also, if these people were sort of prisoners tethered with the alternate world thing, does that mean the old man Boyd saw was alive and catatonic somewhere in the town?
Didn’t we see that dog before? I’m gonna have to rewatch the seasons and take notes I think.
I wonder if she sees civilization at the top of the lighthouse.
Nope. But now she’s awake in the real world? No fricking way.
I don’t care what anybody says. I think this show is awesome. And now it’s got a mad Alice in Borderland vibe. And I love that show.
What a great finale.

So I just rewatched the last scene after reading this thread. I guess it could be someone else other than Tabitha. But it could also just be that the sun reflecting on her hair makes it look light/blonde.
If people are saying that’s a monster, can someone do a side by side picture comparison to the monster in question?
The symbol being a dreamcatcher makes some sense, although I’m not sure if it’s specifically that or if it’s just the view that the kids had in that one room (looking up and outside through the roots). But a dreamcatcher does make sense too I guess, and could explain some of the weird shite going on.
Also like the parallels/themes of “light.” With Tabitha and the lighthouse, the wedding (light in the darkness), and Boyd with the church (?) and the music box.

quote:I knew that wouldn’t happen to Julie and that she wasn’t going to die. Ending totally threw me for a loop though with Tabitha waking up in the real world. Full on LOST vibes. Tabitha has retuned to the real world but the doctors description of what happened to her (being found on a hiking trail) doesn’t jive with the RV accident and now she is only going to be concerned with where her family is. I wonder if Boyd smashing the music box ended “the dream” for all of them and she now finds out her family is there in the real world with her. Will they remember being in the nightmare town or are they still there and is she going to have to rescue them? Is she randomly going to come across others that were in that town and died in the real world now or will she attempt to seek them out?

Very interesting and gripping cliffhanger for the season finale.
ETA I disagree with the theories on the ending. I don’t know what town that is she is looking at outside th window of the hospital but it looks nothing like the nightmare town (there is a river/lake right outside and a colonial town hall looking place outside the window for heaven’s sake

The dogs have been in quite a few situations. Not sure what is happening with that.
Does anyone know if Victor's mom was actually found dead and buried, or did she just go missing and not come back? I wonder because what if she actually made it to the lighthouse?

Finale breakdown
This is a great breakdown. Guy has collected so many details that can easily go unnoticed and tied them all together. Interesting thing with his breakdown, is that he does not say anything about Tabitha's reflection in the final scene, and after watching that scene within his video, I honestly don't think there is anything to it. It looks like her face, just illuminated by the sun.

I thought he pointed out where he saw her body near the tree.
But something that was caught was the fact that Tabitha left with Victor's sisters lunch box. I have a feeling that Tabitha will somehow meet his sister in the real world because of the lunchbox.

Also I don’t make anything of Tabitha’s reflection. Her hair in the reflection looks blonde due to the brightness of the sun shining on the glass window. Only shocker intended in that final scene, IMO, is just the fact she just woke up in the real world from an injury we know nothing about.
I agree with that. That’s why I was wanting a side by side comparison to whatever monster it is supposed to be.

What is Tabitha IS Victor’s sister. We find out she “escaped” years ago and grew up without real memories
:mind blown:

I guess anything is on the table with how it works between the town and the real world.
Like maybe dying (or dying at the hands on the children?) in the town is what snaps you back to reality. So people like Victor's mom are alive and well in the real world. Maybe Jim will find Tabitha's body in the woods and think she's dead, when she's actually escaped the nightmare and is back in reality.
Seems like it would be a cool moment at the end of the show if someone in Victor's family is still alive (most likely his sister I would guess, since he found his mother's body and assuming my comments above aren't true).

Wow, I think that you are onto something with this. It would explain how Tabitha knew exactly who the little kid was in that photo that Jade showed her even though she couldn't have possibly known what Victor looked like at that age.

Finally got around to the finale. God damn this show is awesome. My mind is racing with ideas about the final scene. Not sure where to start.

I’m curious if one was to be pushed out the lighthouse if they would land where Victor’s mom was found.
Posted on 6/28/23 at 6:35 am to Oizers
The tree was nowhere near the lighthouse so I wouldn’t think so but who knows.

That sort of space/time jump is pretty common by now in this world, no?
