I think we've found the most annoying character yet: gurl boss Sydney Sweeney with a badge.

Well, things certainly heated up this episode! Finally a few answers and that was the most polite kidnapping i've ever seen at the end. Holy crap, Elgin!

What we learned in this episode:

1. So we are going with time loop LOST season 5 logic
2. Children were abused by their parents so the children created the far away trees for deliverance and/or a cry for help
3. Almost every character had flawed or abusive parents (save the oriental dude)

The direction its headed sounds like there are new possibilites opening up. One, for instance, would be all the people we have seen, even the monsters aren't relegated to the past, but also the future. The monsters could be from well after the people got there, as well as the town.

It also opens up the possibility that the main characters ARE the children who “go” and “return” interacting with their past selves to save themselves.

This place is where all the characters are “From”

Excellent rebound from last week.

So Boyd is into covering shite up now that someone he likes killed someone? How convenient.

I hate the way they all pronounce Fatima. It makes me irrationally angry.

I also hate when people say “same.” And no way Henry would say it. It just feels so out of place. It’s like grown men who use “lol” for me.

It’s crazy how much of an absolute afterthought Jim is now. Seems like he’s barely on the show.

“If you wanna keep your kids under lock and key, more power to you. Tabitha is a grownup, if you have a problem with what she’s doing, talk to her.”
Wait, we’re not done here.
“Yeah we fricking are, Jim.”

Good for Jade for putting him in his place a little bit. Jade is right, somebody needs to try to figure this shite out and Jim used to be that guy. But now all he does is whine about everything. And moreover, he basically tries to get others to stop trying to figure shite out and does it in the name of “protecting his family.” Bruh, you should be dedicating every single day there to getting the frick out and back home to the real world.

I am so tired of this Fatima bullshite. And now she’s seeing the creepy Kate Beckinsale lady too. Maybe she will die soon (kill herself?).

Now Henry is putting Jim in his place too. Good.

Julie hears people screaming in her head. I wonder if it’s the previous people that have been here (and died here). Or maybe even whatever the monsters were before they were monsters?

Nevermind. It’s Marielle, Randall, and her.

Oh hell yes. Julie in this temple thing. Now we are fricking getting somewhere…

So Julie is who threw the rope down to Boyd, not Martin. I am so glad they addressed that. I hope we get some backstory on Martin at some point.

Now she sees/hears Victor and Tabitha when they were traversing the tunnels.

Oh man, if Julie can go back there with Marielle and Randall, maybe they can all investigate this place and we can figure some shite out.

I’m glad Donna is spewing some sense to Boyd and Ellis. I think Donna has grown on me a little this season.

I’m a little annoyed that this new cop chick (assuming the survives the season) will likely be a love interest for Kenny. But hey, at least he may get some since Kristi fricked him over.

Boy in White words: “The answers to the end are at the beginning. It started with the children…what the others did to them. The children were born in the dark and they were murdered in the dark. But someone who loved them told them a story and it gave them hope. And when the children laid on the stones, they poured their hope into the roots to make a symbol and those roots became the tree. “

Holy shite. Okay. So the children are the ones who made the Farway tree(s?). And this is more evidence that maybe they are actually trying to help.

Christopher was supposed to go through the tree. But Victor told Eloise and she went in. That’s gonna be rough for Victor to deal with. I’m telling you, his mom may be alive somehow. I know he found her body but still, if she went in the tree she could’ve made it out somehow. That would be a great ending on the show for Victor.

Is Elgin gonna try to give Fatima a blood transfusion? Is Elgin bad or part of this place now? Is he the nicest kidnapper in the world?

So she does have a baby and it’s the creepy Kate Beckinsale lady’s? Weird.

Great episode. Two left. After the finale I plan on updating my running tab posts of information. We got a lot this week.

Good last two episodes. I thought Boyd and the cop lady were gonna bang when she was asking for the gun someone please take out Fatima. Wish the old broad had taken her out instead of vice versa. Randall is growing on me, bit of a redemption arc going on there.

Jim, Sarah, and Kristy all were prominent characters in Season 1 who now feel like extras with a few lines now. It feels like all three might be killed off in this seasons finale. I can see the colony house crew led by the new cop taking out Sarah mob style for sure.

Just about everyone couldn’t stand the Elgin-ghost lady and Fatima-devil baby storyline and wondered where it was going so it’s nice those 2 have converged and now are interesting.

Is this ghost guiding Elgin actually going to help or in kidnapping Fatima did Elgin just help to spawn a demon baby growing inside Fatima? This could get juicy while everyone in town wonders where she disappeared to after the death of Tillie.

I agree that Randall is growing on me. And I like the angle of him and Julie sort of teaming up since they were connected in the dungeon torture thing. Just need to get Marielle onboard.

Weirdly, I’d like to see Randall apologize to Donna and sort of connect to her a bit. I think that would be a good pairing.

Yeah I do agree with that too. I borderline hate both of those storylines so then combining could be good. Not only should it mean less overall screen time spent on them, but maybe something cool will come from it and it will get more interesting.

"The children were born in the dark and they died in the dark." Or something like that, I don't remember the exact quote lol but does it not look like Fatima is about to have a baby in the dark?

It’s literally in the same post you quoted.

Good call. So maybe the town is setting her up to birth a new ankgooey kid.

Just joined the discussion here since I finally caught up with the season over the past month or so

The intro song, "Que Sera," has always struck me because it’s traditionally a lullaby sung to children about accepting that the future is unknown—it is what it is, and we can’t control it. My mom used to sing it to me, and now I sing it to my own kids!

It looks like Randall’s heading for a redemption arc, mainly because he now has dirt on Boyd. Boyd’s got some shady things going on, prioritizing his family over the community—which is understandable, but also complicated. Remember, he once had to shoot his own wife when she became a threat to others. That says a lot.

Randall knows Boyd left him to die to protect others. He’s also likely to find out about Fatima killing the old woman, and that Boyd protected her. Boyd also defended the girl who killed two people, yet sentenced the deadbeat dad to death in Season 1. So, Randall’s got plenty of reasons to confront him, and maybe that’s why the monsters left him alive—to be an antagonist to Boyd, exposing Boyd’s not-so-perfect morals.

I hadn’t caught the abused children angle before, so good call on that. It really seems like all of this might be a reflection of children’s nightmares, a way to escape from the grim realities of the world they live (and die) in. Que Sera

Yeah they are making him more likable and apologetic (and sincere about it too). Which means I assume he will die soon.

I suspect either Fatima or Ellis will die this season. Remember this season kicked off with the monsters trying to "break" Boyd after his rant last season about this place not breaking him. And IMO he hasn't really broken yet. So I assume that will happen and it will be the death of someone close to him. Fatima is the frontrunner IMO, but Ellis is also in the race. As is someone like Kenny or Donna too.

Obviously I'm still holding out hope that it's Ethan somehow. :fingerscrossed:

So Elgin is trying to force feed Fatima....blood? WTF was that? I'm not sure why he's all in on this crazy lady helping them (instead of her being a part of this place and not being good).

It is absolutely weird how this show is trying its very best to make Kristi as ugly and meh as possible. Her haircut bothers me every time she's onscreen.

Goddammit, Jim. You asked Julie what she was doing out there and she starts telling you but as soon as you hear Randall's name you leave and don't let her finish telling you. Just sit still for two seconds and gather information.

But at least he went to Randall and asked normal questions instead of his usual tough guy routine. And now he's all in on Tabitha figuring shite out. Good.

And now Boyd is telling Ellis information. Sharing information is the only way you're gonna get out of this place.

Feels like that's the first time we've seen one of the monsters in a while. And she pointed a finger gun at her head. I think I/we talked about the whole Fatima thing possibly being a part of the town breaking Boyd. And now he's wondering the same thing.

Sara hearing voices and she's telling Boyd and Ellis. And Boyd is telling Donna all about it. frickING SHARING INFORMATION. Yay.

And holy shite, now they are sharing information with the whole town. Nice. Although Boyd going with the "this town can't break us" speech may be a little dangerous.

What house is this where Jade is setting up the bottles?

So this little boy in white has hit puberty apparently.

BiW has "tried before with Christopher." Wonder what exactly he means by that.

I suspect Ellis will figure out Elgin's secret pretty quickly.

Julie is telling Tabitha what she saw. Tabitha is telling her about the kid she sees. I'm glad so many people sharing information. Maybe we can advance things now.

I'm so tired of this skinny ghost chick. This story needs to end or go somewhere soon. At least they've tied her to Fatima's baby, but we've seen her for over a season now and we still have no idea who or what she is or why she's important.

quote:

So…..Tabitha saw how Victors mom really died. Is that all or did I miss something?

No I think that's kinda all it was, at least for now. So Smiley is the one that killed Victor's mom. I wonder if there is any significance to that or if they just brought him back since he's been the most prominent monster.

I'm interested to see how they warp the season up. Hopefully things keep coming together now that people are finally sharing information..

I thought that final scene implied that Tabitha is actually Victors sister.

She left the root cellar, found the mom, got pushed through the tree and I guess escaped, got adopted, and grew up without memories of this place. Now her and Victor are getting their memories back at the same time. Could be way off tho.
