Well they started this season off with a banger. I still think Jim is going to survive.

I desperately want this show to be good but the writing and acting in this episode is just rough to watch at times. Tabitha with Julie scenes, painful.

Hopefully the character reveal at the end of the episode gets this show going. Were into season 4 and I'm not sure how many more episodes I can watch where the main characters continue discuss something that happens to them and nobody can believe its possible.

unaffected by the talismans

I follow this guy in Insta that does a deep dive into the show. He seems to believe that the talismans don't actually work, the monsters just want the people to think they do.

I'll have to rewatch it again to get the full theory, and I can also give you his name if you want to watch too.

I love this show, and get all into the lore of it.

I'm going to wait a few weeks before I start watching.

Might do a marathon season 1-3 over the next couple weeks. Hopefully it will refresh my memory on everything.

Again, frick all that. Catch up now so you can jump into the discussion for S4. There is plenty of shite to talk about without having to wait and binge it once it's over.

Also, I was reading up on the From Wiki ( link here), which is really good at helping explain things and how they are connected (the Trivia section near the bottom is usually helpful with how things relate to previous episodes/happenings on the show).

But I saw and I didn't remember connecting it previously in the S3 thread (which I am re-reading). This new Man in Yellow (MiY) monster thing...I assume he's the "leader" of whatever the frick is bad in this place. But he was also the voice on the other end of the radio in S1 who told Jim that Tabitha should not have dug that hole in their basement...because he repeated it again right before killing him in the S3 finale.

It's also theorized that this MiY thing is who/what the townspeople were sacrificing their children to in order to become immortal, which sort of makes complete sense if he is in fact the "monster leader" of sorts.. So hopefully we get some good exposition on this character moving forward.

Something seemed off; it felt like there were more cliché moments and character actions I think.

I agree. I think it was because they tried to pick up exactly where they left off last season and it's prob just kinda hard for a cast and crew to do that and hopefully a one off

Can you remind me what happened with Julie at the end of S3 just before Jim got killed? Had she just come from the ruins or something? Was that when she threw the rope down to Boyd? I'm trying to refresh my memory on the story walker thing. I also vaguely remember Ethan telling Julie she's a story walker, so she's aware of it at this point? Also why was Jim out in the woods by the RV

This has to be really important but I don't have a clue what it means

Also why was Jim out in the woods by the RV

Julie went to the ruins with Randall and could feel something.

She went back with Ethan (frick him), and she freaked the frick out screaming...but while she was screaming IRL, her consciousness was actually inside the ruins/building walking around and whatnot. She saw Martin chained up and threw the rope to Boyd, she saw the tunnels and saw/heard Tabitha/Victor walking around escaping (from earlier in the show), etc.

She was talking to Ethan about what happened there and he said she's a Storywalker who can sort of hop in and out of the story and visit different times/places (present, past, and future I presume).

As for Jim and the RV...after Jade played the song at the bottle tree and the ankhgooey kids came up, Jade and Tabitha were hit with the realization that they were reincarnations of the OG people of the town and were together and couldn't save the kids, one of whom was their daughter, and all that. So Tabitha tells him she needs some time to process shite, Jim leaves and goes to the RV. I guess since it's his and that's where all this started with them there, and he went there to cry (and for comfort maybe?). And that's when Julie comes running and alludes to this being the point that she needs to change the story and that he needs to run. And that's when the MiY shows up and gives Jim the ole Dalton//Road House throat rip.

Agreed. And I hate how they are potentially setting her up as a love interest for Kenny.

But I really need that little bitch Ethan to die before anyone else on the show.

Finally got to watch the first new episode.

-It’s criminal what they have done to Kristi. She was actually attractive in season 1. Now they go out of their way to make her ugly. No one else in town is getting shitty hair cuts.

-I just knew they weren’t going to zoom in on him getting his eye sewn shut, but then they did so that was nice

-Did Boyd realize that he sounded like his wife when he was making plans to kill everyone

-The female cop is the worst. She is directly responsible for at least a couple deaths since she arrived and still seems to think she should be in charge

-I knew the priest was alone at the beginning. I assumed she made it past the talisman because she was let in.

-all the stuff flying around the kitchen was weird. Wasn’t expecting a ghost/haunting

I'd like to see the theory, but that seems like it wouldn't make sense.

I could see that working in as a last mind-frick to the...uh...citizens/victims(?) before killing them all off for good.

They're holed up at wit's end, feeling only the safety of the talisman to keep the monsters at bay...and then the monsters just walk in.

Yeah, I guess there's just so much unknown about the dynamics of this place and the monsters, nothing would really be surprising.

So if the MiY is From’s counterpart to Lost’s Man in Black, who is the Jacob of the show?

Find it interesting how Jim, Julie, and Jacob all start with J’s. That may just be a coincidence though.

Can't blame him though. The town is undoing every victory they achieve. At this point any hope is seemingly false from his perspective and the only escape appears to be a bullet to the head.

Yeah, the Town is relentless lately. And I suspect that will be a theme for most of the season, with some wins (or one huge win) coming late for the townspeople.

Solid episode last night. Here's my stream of consciousness thoughts as I watched (just to get them written down for possible discussion):

Kenny and new girl/MiY. It’s okay to be mad at her for opening the door at night.

Boyd/Elgin. I wondered if he would apologize to him. Kinda glad he didn’t and is standing strong on what he did and why Elgin should keep quiet.

Beatles Good Morning om the little jukebox radio in the diner.

Ethan is freaking out. Just fricking tell him you don’t know what’s in the sack. It’s not a lie.

I wonder how Julie’s new gift works. Like does she know Jim is dead or does she not know that yet? Just curious if she can sort of interact with different times and places and know what’s going on or if it’s random.

I also wonder if she can affect things like maybe trying to prevent people from seeing the tree in the road (I doubt it just thinking about shite).

The kids discovering their dad like that. Ouch. That’s rough.

“Knowledge comes at a cost.” So the Town is admitting that they are figuring some shite out. Goes with what the MiY said last week.

Kenny telling Sophia/MiY that Boyd is “the thing that holds this whole place together.” Although I wonder if the monsters/Town knew that already. Not sure if MiY is doing recon or what.

Someone needs to slap Ethan. And just atrocious acting by the actor as well. Maybe he’ll sneak out tonight and get slaughtered by the monsters. Fingers crossed…

I bet Sara is the one who is gonna figure out that Sophia is a monster.

Glad to see Jade explain shite to Boyd so quickly. I also like that Boyd doesn’t even question it and believes him. Bout time that starts happening in this place.

“If we push too hard something would push back.” ~ Sara (and her brother)

I do think it sucks that Jim died but he had basically become an ancillary character at this point. And I do think it’s sort of funny that Jade so awesomely put Jim in his place at the end of last season and then we find out that Jim is married to a chick that is indirectly Jade’s sloppy seconds.

“How do you begin to save something that’s already dead..” opening for Jim to come back maybe, and maybe via Julie?

Jade to Tabitha: “You have to think about your children now.”
Damn, son. It’s only been about an hour since she found out her husband died, bruh. Maybe chill a tiny bit.

Have we seen thar ballerina thing before? Was it part of the music box thing in the tunnels?

frick yes. Ethan is sneaking out. Next up is his murder please. I hate that people just blindly believe the bullshite he says about his things work (like the storywalker thing). It’s like Stranger Things following D&D basically. I had a theory a season or two ago that he was maybe the next Boy in White, but I hope that’s not true.

I’m so ready for Acosta to fricking die already. She sucks in every way possible.

I checked the last scene of the S3 finale again and Julie was wearing different clothes than she is right now. And she also had shorter hair, looked older, had shorter hair, and a giant claw mark on her neck. So I assume she isn’t gonna save Jim right now unless she visits multiple places/things and then Jim’s death.

For the love of God please let Jim be the MiY or someone else and kill this fricking twerp. But I assume Ethan now sees ghosts like Jim, Sara, Tabitha, Jade, etc.

Lake of Tears. Don’t remember any talk of that from S1E1 or Ethan’s dream or anything.

Really good episode. Feels like lots of stuff happened. And next week looks good too.

Here are a couple of pictures of what Jade's timeline was. The "is there a future?" theory stands out to me as pretty interesting, especially given that we now know he and Tabitha are sort of trapped in a time loop of constantly returning to the Town:

Also, I did go back to S1 to try to find the Lake of Tears thing, and just jotted down a few notes while I was looking.

Went back to S1E1.

There is a RR track they drive over when trying to get out and circling back to the town over and over. I wonder if anybody has ever tried walking in either direction along those.

It rained on Jim’s first night there (in the RV). I believe it's been said that rain is few and far between in the Town.

Kristi with normal hair is cute. Compare that to Kristi now with the dumbest haircut imaginable and it stands out big time.

Anyway, the LoT stuff wasn’t in E1, but was in E2:

Ethan wakes up from sleeping after being injured in the RV crash. “I saw it. I saw the lake of tears. It was a drawing on the wall. There were so many drawings on the wall. Like when I used to draw with crayons and you’d put it on the fridge.” Then it pans to Victor drawing. “We were all in the drawings. You, and me, and mom, and Julie.” And Victor is drawing the wreck. “But somebody screamed bc the spider came down from the ceiling.” Then Jim cuts him off.

But maybe ghost Jim will be more helpful on how to solve this mystery than alive Jim was (if Julie can't bring him back/save him). And I wonder if something or someone will be in/at the bottom of the lake. I also wonder where the hell it is since the only water we've seen is the little water hole where the tubes and the pier are. I think we saw it in S1.
