Yeah it's a bit different, but to me, he's like teemu Shylaman at this point.
Is there an Indian or Nigerian version that's even worse than Temu? I'd consider him that compared to MNS
M Night had 3 legit good-great movies to start off before he went off the rails

I’m sure it will get a 98% Rotten Tomatoes score and be Oscar nominated.

Very much agreed. Perhaps a better more apt comparison would be like the black Mary Harron except Mary Harron made one exceptional film.

Why Indian or Nigerian?

I doubt this movie is that expensive.
It is the buddy comedy of today

Not racial, but definitely cultural

China is associated with outlets like Temu due to its status on the economic development tiers/ladders
India is behind China (but close to outright competing with China and)
Nigeria is behind India (but emerging as a leader in that tier)

Far more scammy than the Chinese? Learned something today.

Horror can have a lot of profitability if they keep budgets low. This movie is going to have a large budget for horror just not for "Hollywood blockbusters"
Comedies also could fit into this model. You can print money with cheap comedies, but studios are afraid to make/distribute them.

From the trailer, I'm guessing this movie will be abt CTE.

Peele is trying to make art, and I say this as a person who isn't a big fan of his work.
Ryan Coogler is who Jordan Peel thinks he is.
By all definitions Sinners is a 'woke' movie that doesn't shove it in your face. Its hard to miss, but it isn't presented in any kind of pushy way.
Peele tries to bonk you over the head with whatever 'lesson' he is trying to 'teach' the audience.

Yes and some people use horror in this way specifically. Generally I'm not a fan. I like horror for horror's sake.
Peele forgets that you have to make a good movie first and leave the allusions and metaphors in the background. Get Out was fine in this regard, but then he quickly went off the rails into absurdity within the actual movies themselves.
Like with my praise of Hereditary, I don't rate the purported message about intergenerational trauma in my review. Sadly, I imagine had Ari Aster had to make a couple other movies before this one, he would have Peele'd it and gone way too heavy on those themes and ruined the movie.
It's a common trope with directors who have this perfect idea they mold for years in the shadows until they're given the break to do it. These movies have to be constrained in that if they don't succeed the director is dead, but the director still have a very developed story they've been working on forever. Then they get praise for it and sniff their own farts and never can replicate that original.
That's why the ones who don't fall into this trap are so special. Hell, even Tarantino was going this direction until There Will Be Blood bitch-slapped him and course-corrected him back into greatness and quality output.

Might be. I’d like to think horror wouldn’t be the best way to bring this topic to light, but we’ll see.

Will Smith was a Golden Globe nominee for Concussion.

Awesome story by Tarantino. There Will be Blood and Inglorious Basterds are easily in my top 5 movies of all time. I won't even try to rank one over the other.

So it’s all good to make a horror movie about it after it’s been addressed once?
Seems sus.. Might be just more about drive & the quest to succeed.
