No, but he developed the reboot. He has to take some blame for it being crap

Reboot was in development long before Peele came around and helped pay for it. Marco Ramirez was the showrunner. Peele narrated because of star power.

I never see other directors getting trashed for the crap their production company churns out.

As I said, this was produced by Peele's company, not "Hollywood"

Exactly!!

I didn’t have to read any further because this is where you made my point for me.

You still haven't explained why you said

quote:

Whatever connection Hollywood once had, or thought they had, with the bulk of the movie going audience...

They don't.

In response to a trailer of this movie produced by a small studio that is likely going to be profitable?

Was that quoted language supposed to be a compliment? Why did you bring up Toho as your example of non-Hollywood if you were praising this non-Hollywood movie? Why not just, you know, praise the movie/studio being discusssed?

Not a big fan of his other movies but at least he's making original stuff.

The movies are well done I just think he misses the mark with the stories.

He's a guy who made an overrated movie and bought into the auteur label that he never deserved, and then immediately went hard in that direction.

As opposed to a guy like Ari Aster, who at least made a truly great movie, a decent/entertaining effort, and THEN went off the rails into masturbatory efforts.

I don't know. I think Hereditary and Midsommar are terrible.

How is it possible to think Hereditary is "horrible"?

My brain cannot comprehend this.

The Internet told me to love it. I tried.

Disagree about Hereditary. Midsommar could've been better, although it was far from terrible. It was the closest thing to The Wicker Man we've seen since the God-awful remake with Nick Cage.

"Him" looks like a mix of Rosemary's Baby and The Substance. Since they show what appears to be a pentagram on the floor, it stands to reason that the main character gets himself involved with a Satanic cult of some sort.

There are only a few truly great horror movies of the past 30-40 years and Hereditary is on that short list.

Good, original story ( If we ignore he stole it from me...somehow)
Actually was scary
Incredible acting

Is horror just not your thing?

He's ripping off Starry Eyes and Neon Demon and centering it around football.

My dude, I can share with you some folk horror if you'd like.

You can't appreciate a movie like that by dividing your attention

I figured that out after his shite jaws from space remake. Get Out was alright, but I'm telling you, if he wasn't who he is, he wouldn't be lauded in the same regard. It's a shame because there are horror directors out there that put out quality and aren't as lauded and can't continue to pick their projects and budget.

Well he's his own producer so it's a bit different

Yeah it's a bit different, but to me, he's like teemu Shylaman at this point. Twilight Zone was awful, Candyman was awful, Us was awful, Nope was awful. After watching his films, I feel like he really can't stand white people. Such strange racism depicted in his themes.

Only Get Out centered on race. Us was about class and Nope was about exploitation in Hollywood. He neither wrote nor directed Twilight Zone and Candyman.

He most definitely has a writer cred for Candyman.

I liked Get Out.

Us sucked.

Nope sucked.

And this one looks like it will suck.
