The whole Sasha Grey/Vince thing with Vince getting caught up in the drugs was a turning point. I know Charlie Sheen was pretty much the first big celeb to openly date a porn star(Ginger Lynn) so it had happened before but it was still hard to see it happening in this era.

That was definitely a low point of the show.

However… they definitely were following a trajectory from the beginning. Up and coming star, makes hit after hit… till Medellin stalls his career, he flounders a bit afterwards, gets into drugs, comes out of it and then restarts his career.

They pretty much wrote out RDJ’s life with more boobs and weed. Even though there were parts that dragged, I liked it all the way through. But I also watched it all about 3 years ago over the course of a month. Not live.

And I’ll say that Vincent was a pretty movie star, not a good actor and I don’t think the show tries to present him as anything but that.

They became the douchebags they satirized.

Adrian Grenier was miscast, he didn’t have an ounce of the charisma they acted like he did
This always kept me from getting into the show. He was a terrible lead.

I’m on the last episode and I’m just ready for this to end. Like someone else said, this was GOT before GOT. The first 4-5 seasons are great though

This.

A lot of his movie roles and time on sets were dumpster fires. He “looked good” and was famous, but a “good actor” he was not.

Reminds me of the line from As Good as it Gets.
Lady to Jack Nicholson: “how do you write women so well?”
Jack: “I think of a man and I take away reason and accountability.”

I agree the later seasons weren’t as good, but I don’t think the trajectory of the show was bad. They couldn’t just have him go back-and-forth over whether or not to do a movie and make millions of dollars every single season.

They progressed the characters quite a bit, which, for a silly show like this is pretty cool. I think Vinny doing drugs and getting weird when his career starts the nose dive is pretty in character for him.

Turtle finding a way to use Vinnys fame to make connections also makes sense and Drama found his version of success. We all knew E was eventually going to make it as a “suit” like Billy Walsh would put it.

The show was a little less entertaining but if they had just rinse and repeat the same storylines from the first 4 seasons it would’ve gotten stale

Didn't most of that happen right after he almost died doing a stunt for a movie?

For me, it was about E. I hated the actor in real life, and it made the show almost unwatchable.

When I first started the series, I thought E was Sean Astin. They look so similar

Wasn’t it a writers strike victim too?
