I think George Clooney would have killed as Reed, 20 years ago. Maybe Jeff Goldblum.

Just no.. I guess you're too young to have seen Batman and Robin. Everyone was convinced GC would be the perfect Bruse Wayne/Batman and the movie was awful.

The FF have been my favorite Comic since I was able to read in the late 60's. Reed is a brilliant, but not "dashing" like Clooney thinks he is. I was pretty happy with John Krawsinski as Reed. As far as Doom. Hugo Weaving would be the prefect Doom as he could deliver his gransdiose lexicon

Batman and Reed Richards are very different characters

Clooney was a bad choice for Bruce

I don't think comics fans are lining up for this

I'll wait for it on streaming, unless I hear great things

I think he is saying that comics fans are already checked out

I was after the gender swap of MY FAVORITE DAMN CHARACTER OF ALL TIME.

I'm not salty, though

The only time the Thing was depicted with a beard was in comics that are set centuries later (as he ages WAY slower than everyone else in the FF).
Yea, the beard is a weird choice. It only appeared when Richards visits him in the future and he aged.

That is an interesting design choice.

Maybe he is turned human, grows a beard, then becomes the Thing again.

He's the character that was always the closest personification of Jack Kirby (outside of his Newsboy Legion kids). In the mid-70's Kirby drew Ben Grimm wearing a yarlmuke for a holiday card, fans took it to mean Ben was Jewish. Eventually Marvel went with the flow and gave some of their characters religions, Ben was now openly Jewish.

Litany of Sunday Dinner, Family, Together....in every trailer trying to drum up interest. I was interested at first because of the early sixties setting but the more i think about this gimmick (X-Men already showed it doesn't help a poorly written movie), the more i think it fails to redeem the girl boss subplot that is suspect is coming (Sue and Shalla will be the key).

Genuinely concerned this and Superman will be duds

They better be very good or I can see both falling off a cliff after opening weekend. Audiences aren't just showing up to any comic book film anymore

I'll repeat what i said for you.
quote:

90% of the people that will see this movie have no idea who or what Galactus is, nor do they really care.

It doesn't matter if 50,000 people see this movie or 50 million people see it, the vast majority of the viewing audience won't be a comic book nerd, or even someone knowledgeable of comic book characters outside of the main popular ones that have been around for the last 50 years, so they could care less who or what Galactus is when they decide if they will see this movie. I wasn't inferring anything else with that statement.

And no i don't think the turnout for this movie will be great, nor do i think the movie will be that good, but I will go see it with my family.

Ben Grimm was a kinder, friendlier Kirby, and JJ Jameson was Stan Lee turned up to Maximum a-hole.

I mean the F4 are quite literally Marvel's first family, that aspect has always been a core part of them with Sue being the mother/heart of the group.

Why wouldn't Sue and the Surfer be key parts of the movie. It's pretty clear that Reed is still the leader so it seems you're just gas lighting yourself

The average american has never read a single comic book in their life.
I guarantee you 75% or more of the audience for the Avengers never heard of Loki, Ultron, or Thanos before those movies.
The average moviegoer probably couldn't have told you what color Ironman's suit was before his first movie.
The hardcore comic fanbase does not make up this huge percentage of the moviegoers for these films.

Just because they haven't read the comic doesn't mean they don't know the characters. With the intenet/social media/anime and gaming culture the fans take much deeper dives and know just about all aspects of charaters.

I wonder if the average moviegoers will consider Galactus destroying the Earth a derivative of Zod doing the terraforming?
