My favorite line is the new gandalf is grumpier than the old one. Gimli. I read he was miserable the entire time because he was allergic to his makeup and they just went with it

Finishing a reread of the books now and it’s been years since I’ve read or seen the movies.

Plan to watch the movies next. Will be interesting to compare them against each other against how I remember them.

So far I like Frodo and Sam much more than what I remember from the movies.

The Nazgul and the Balrog. They are the coolest villains.

I was like you, obsessed with Legolas as a kid because Jackson gave him so many Superman scenes. But as I’ve aged, it’s either Boromir or Aragorn with Sam as a close 3rd.

After seeing Galadriel I couldn’t stop thinking about all the other characters for some reason.

All I know is what was shown in the movie. His only redeeming moment came at death. What was shown was a terrible person.
Was the flashback scene with Boromir, Faramir, and Denethor when Gondor retakes Osgiliath before Boromir gets sent to Rivendell only in the extended version? That scene shows plenty of redeeming quality for Boromir and gives some backstory as to why he would want The One ring for Gondor to use as a weapon

Yeah, that was only in the Extended version.

I wish they would have included the retaking of the shire in the movies that was a favorite part of the books for me. When the hobbits revealed themselves and started wrecking shite I loved it.

Without doubt Sam is my favorite

It would have been a great substitute for the last five minutes of laughing Hobbits.

Book and movies is a tie between Gandalf and Sam.

I just looked it up. I have never seen that, so it must not be in the versions regularly shown on TV.

TV broadcasts only show the original theatrical release. There's extended editions that add about 40-45 minutes on average for each film.

HBO Max has all 3 films in both the regular and extended editions. If you've never seen them before, do yourself a favor and watch the extended versions

And those channels suddenly disappeared from Direct Stream I really miss them, but not sure enough to pay for them.

I think Prime has them too, but not 100% sure since I cancelled that subscription until there’s some new shows or seasons to lure me back in.

The ultimate cougar - Arwen met Aragorn when he was 20 and she was over 2700 years old. Flipped the bird to the ring-wraiths and saved Frodo's life, without which the quest was over.

Or maybe because I know an 18 year old who pretty much looks exactly like this, minus the elf ears.

The fight after Bormoir is killed between Aragorn and the Uruk Hai captain has possibly my favorite shot in cinematic history. When Aragorn beheads the guy and the camera swivels. I’ve linked it below
