Favorite "lesser" John Wayne movies

By "lesser," I only mean his films that aren't mentioned as often when everyone thinks - - John Wayne movies like The Searchers, Rio Bravo, The Shootist, True Grit, Red River, She Wore A Yellow Ribbon, The Quiet Man, etc.
They may have been hits in their day, but they do not get the same mention and respect as his more well known or critically acclaimed stuff.
North to Alaska being one example as well as my personal favorite, The War Wagon and Donovan's Reef, or even something like Hondo or The Comancheros or Where Eagles Dare.
There's also the more obscure stuff like "Blood Alley" and of course his early, pre-Stagecoach films that are almost unwatchable now.
Angel and the Badaman and Tall in the Saddle are about as far back as I can go with any knowledge.

Were we watch The Comancheros at the same time on Starz Westerns?
Still need to see the whole thing, but the hanging scene caught my attention.

I don't think he was in where eagles dare. That was a Richard burton and Clint Eastwood movie.
One if my favorite john wayne movies as a kid was the sands of iwo Jima

Flying Tigers or Donovan’s Reef.
Does Liberty Valence count since he really wasn’t the main character?

Rio Lobo is a childhood favorite. My big brother took me to see it and when the movie ended he asked me, "Want to see it again?" We sat and watched it again, start to finish.
War Wagon is another favorite. It has that Seven Samurai feel as he builds his team, plus the War Wagon itself is like something out of a Tomahawk or Weird Western comic. We had the comic adaption of the movie as well.
I came to The Cowboys late in the game, but the supporting cast put that film on the list for me. Roscoe Lee Brown is so damn fun to watch, plus Colleen Dewhurst and Bruce Dern as that awesome villain.
Honorable mention for Hatari for sheer craziness. The craziest part being the hot girl in her early 20's falling for Red Buttons in his 40's.

Also a favorite of mine. A fun John Wayne movie that no one seems to ever talk about. Catchy Johnny Horton tune, too.

You probably meant The Wings of Eagles - 1957.

Is this "lesser known"? Cause it is one of my favorites.

Reap the Wild Wind, with the wonderful Paulette Goddard.
One of the few movies in which he was killed.
In this on and in Wake of the Red Witch, he was killed by a giant octopus/squid.
That's right, The Duke is 0-2 against giant cephalopods.
