But how the hell could you not like Rachael. There were times on that show where Jennifer Anniston could not have been hotter. There was not one thing they could have done to her to make her more attractive.

Because some of us can separate the character that is Rachel from the hotness that is Jennifer Aniston's body. I disliked Rachel as a character for a lot of the show. She had some good scenes though and Jennifer's body was always nice to look at... Phoebe was my least favorite.

Ross annoyed me sometimes and then he was my favorite others. Him and Chandler I would put at the top.

Rachel - Worst character on the show.

At least Phoebe was able to support herself coming from nothing. That shows growth.

Rachel was just a skank that let some new dick support her or her daddy save her again

Hmmm...I guess maybe we can have a distinction (this thread or a new one?) about the actual PERSON themself compared to the role their character played.

I can see where you're coming from with your post. If we're talking about people IRL, yeah Rachel is probably a run below Phoebe. Although, if we want to play devil's advocate here...even though she did come from money, rachel had to battle with divorced parents that didn't get along, ended up working her arse off and getting a great job with Ralph Lauren (that she earned on her own merit), landed a stable man and had a child, etc.

Phoebe, while coming from a practically non-existant home, has not much to show for her life until very late in the series when she gets with mike.

Now, as far as the actual characters they potray on a sitcom, phoebe has to be the worst just because she brings zero to the table. Not funny, not smart, not watchable.

That story arc was manufactured nonsense. She did absolutely nothing to earn her professional career.

Phoebe thought her mom committed suicide. Her twin sister was a porn star, her dad abandoned her. It's not even close. People from that type of background tend to have stability issues. Heck, even Chandler came from crazier divorced parents than Rachel.

Rachel is just a terrible human being. If all 6 characters had something bad happen in their life, guess who's problem was most important? Yes, poor selfish Rachel.

But those pokies...

Least: Ross by a mile, funny at times but so intensely unlikeable.

Favorite: Overall Joey but Chandler had solid moments.

I really never found Monica attractive for some reason, but then I saw 3000 Miles to Graceland and it definitely moved for Ms. Cox. I guess slutty waitresses looking for a daddy for their kids have been a recurring theme in my life.

Best - Rachael by a mile, especially when the cold studio made her chest region stand up

Least - Ross, almost unwatchable when he was the main story line.

in what way? People weren't just coming to central perk and handing her jobs. She started as the waitress, then went to some low level fashion gig (can't remember exactly), then bloomingdales, then ralph lauren. Looks like she consistently kept working her way up.

True, phoebe certainly had the more fricked up upbringing. My whole point was simply that it wasn't like she grew up in fairy tale land where everythign was perfect. Remember I was talking about these people as if they were real, not the characters they are portraying.

One of my favorite episodes is when Chandler hooks up with one of Joey's sister's but he can't remember which one.

She broke up Ross and Emily's marriage
and then went on their honeymoon,
she accepted Joey's proposal for no reason while carrying Ross's baby,
she banged her friend's fiancé,
she hooked up with a few guys, including Chandler, that Monica told her she had a crush on,
she bangs most of the guys she works with
Even makes up rumors about them to keep them single
Or abuses her power as a superior to bang them
She is a terrible roommate.
She left a fiancé at the alter, and then banged him after he got engaged to a friend of hers
She convinced one of Ross's girlfriend's to shave her own head to frick with Ross.
Pretty much anytime Ross is in a relationship she actively destroys it while jumping from dick to dick herself

That's just a start. I'll provide more examples if you want.

A lot of those are examples of being crappy, yes. But let's not act like we couldn't dig up dirt on everyone. And some of the things you mentioend don't make someone a "terrible person", like being a bad roommate.

As far as sexual partners, I was doing some browsing and came across this:

quote:

Splitsider's Mike D'Avria determined that Rachel has had the third most sexual partners, 14, as well as the highest percentage of serious monogamous relationships at 71%. D'Avria opined, "Throughout the whole series Rachel is continually meeting men she wants to impress. Her flirtations typically fail, but she somehow winds up in a serious relationship with them."

For someone as attractive as her, to have 14 partners over the course of her lifetime isn't THAT much, like at all. Would you consider the 2 people above her to be terrible people simply because of the numbers?

I'm not white knighting for Rachel and saying she's a saint, but she's not the awful monster y'all are making her out to be.

She broke up two separate marriages between close friends by seducing both of the would be husbands after breaking up with them earlier, then agreed to marry Ross's best friend while carrying Ross's baby.

She also destroyed multiple relationships between Ross and any girl he was dating becauss she kept him on the back burner, she broke up a few other guys relationships just because she got jealous and wanted to bang them instead of them being happy.

Yes. You are. At least admit it.

to be fair, it was Ross's DA that said "take thee rachel" instead of emily. He kinda did himself in there.

dude, if rachel green was a real person that posted on the M/TV board you could conisder this white knighting, as if I was trying to impress her or gain cool points with her or something. She's a made up character on a TV show, her opinion of me is non-existent. I'm simply presenting the other side of the argument here. And again, it's not like everyone else on the show were total saints either, they all have their issues. So does every human on earth, we're humans. My whole point was that she is not a terrible person. At least I don't think so anyway. George Costanza...now THAT is someone that could realistically be called a terrible person.

She really isn't. She has her moments, but I think that's actually a good part of the show - Friend's characters mostly seem real. Rachel goes from being terrible, to pretty forgiving, but I feel that unlike various lengths of Joey and Phoebe's, she's actually quite real.

This character is about Favorite and Least Favorite, and her actions do sometimes tick me off a lot, so she's the least enjoyable character from one perspective, however, if this is about Best or Worst from a story perspective, it's either Joey or Phoebe by a large margin. They are funny, provide great moments of comedy, but neither character really develops over the length of the show. Ross, Chandler, Monica, and Rachel all do.
