Had to watch the entire recap to remember what was going on. It's been a while.

the setting just has 1950s retro futuristic aesthetics.
It is essentially a world where transistors were never invented until a decade before the bombs started falling

Everything is still magnetrons and CRTs. Microprocessors are rudimentary

The reason for the aesthetic is the stampede of miniaturization was JUST starting when the world ended

Hitting us with some Marty Robbins early on.

I'm doing a rewatch of season 1 because I can't remember shite. The music selection is so good.

Art Deco is the term for the architecture/style

Great 1st episode. Wish they'd go ahead and dump them all.

Is this a spoiler thread BTW? Can I ask a question about lore? I havent played FO in years.

Yeah, I watched Ep 1 but even after the recap I feel like I need to just rewatch all of season 1.

It also confused me that the actor for Robert House changed.

Looks like he had a body double he used before the War. Thoreau is the real one

Robert House also has a paranoid half-brother named Anthony that owned part of the H&H Tool company that he talks about at the beginning of the episode

It could be him

Needs to open up to spoilers for all of S1and S2 EP 1. No point in having a Fallout season thread if you can't talk about it

Preferably no gamer talk that would spoil future story lines.

I'm not sure gamer talk would spoil any of the storylines. This is kind of it's own thing within the general world of the fallout game series. Shady Sands doesn't get nuked in the games and the timeline of many events don't line up with what goes on in the games

Agreed.

The scene with "Big Iron' playing was great.

Bro the sugar bomb dude…. Wtf was that shite.

In season one flashbacks, Hank referred to young Lucy as his "Little Sugar bomb" or "My Sugar bomb".

The guy who they ran into in the vault was relaying a message from Hank to her that he was going to fix everything and to go home. Before the pop he says "I fix everything. Go home Sugarbomb."

That was Hank directly addressing Lucy.

If anything, this spoils the game.

I've never played New Vegas without killing Robert House.

The only people who can spoil this show are the writers.

Getting back into the show makes me want to get Fallout 76 on Steam for $4 through the winter sale currently, but then I remember there's a subscription if you want the purer Fallout experience.

It's worth the rewatch. This is probably the best show on TV right now, regardless if you were a fan of the game or not.
