Just got back from seeing it and I'm glad this thread is here for my upvote. I agree 100%.

I really enjoyed Episode IX.

What was your favorite part and why?

Sounds like 90% of the people (on this board) saying the movie is awful are the people who swore a sacred vow to not see it.

Or we read the leaks and dont need to see it since we already know the plot and all the details. But sure just continue believe people just blindly for no reason at all dislike this movie.

Disney fricked him by using 8 to be a propaganda shite sandwich.
7 was an homage. Get the fireplace lit again and get all of the OT SW fans back engaged. I get it. Even if it was ANH remade.

But not much a man can do when they piss all over the living room rug, light a bag of shite on fire, stomp it out, and then proceed to rub it in anyone's face that dares to say it smells like sjw bullshite.

9 might be awesome. Making lemonade out of the situation. but they wont get a dime from me.

Dude, I'll be honest. I don't always love fan service but I'm a sucker for it with Star Wars. I'd enjoy a well done trilogy, with new ideas, in the same universe but if Luke, Han and Leia are in it, I just want comfort food if you know what I mean.

So favorite parts? I liked Kylos turn to the light and his scene with Han as well as Leia playing a part in that. Luke basically coming in to undo all of that bullshite Rian had him do in TLJ. I enjoyed Landos scenes more than I thought I would. Even though I wasn't sold on the love connection between Kylo/Rey, that last scene with them still got me. I think that's attributable to Drivers acting more than anything.

So it's pretty obvious it's all the original trilogy connections.

I didn't hate the rest though. It was fun, fast paced movie. I don't disagree with a lot of the critique on the pacing, editing and plot holes but it just wasn't bad enough to hamper my enjoyment of it.

I truly don't see how someone hated ROS though. Rate it a 40%? Ok. I don't agree but ok. Say you hate it? Maybe Star Wars was never for you then.

Absolutely the case. I am sure it could have been better, but it also could have been a lot LOT worse.

It’s sad that people already have their minds made up so there is no chance they will like it

I give all of them a clean slate and I’m still a 7 year old kid when those opening credits role. I’m a sucker what can I say

So in your mind knowing details, the plot, seeing photos and clips of the movie isnt enough to decide whether you will like it or not?

TFA was a good start

No, it wasn't. It was garbage and set the entire trilogy up for failure.

But, thanks for letting me know that RoS will be garbage, too.

Not for everyone. I read your thread at first so I knew quite a few of those details. For someone like me, it was still worth going for those moments I listed.

What does it rank compared to rogue one? That’s the only one I have really enjoyed of the new films.

To be fair, Anakin did stop the horrors at the end of Return. Not his fault his daughter went out chasing the remnants rather than leading in the Republic and his son was a dookie arse teacher.

Then again, George pulled an Anakin putting his faith in a Sith (Kathleen Kennedy) when he should have put it in a Jedi (literally anyone else).

Yes it was. It was a damn good start. It wasn't perfect, but it was a great start. Rian came in, of course, and killed its momentum with his bs.

No.

It was boring and predictable. The only thing it started was exactly what we've already seen. It's garbage writing.

at anyone who thinks Abrams did a good job.

No, not in this case

I haven't seen this film yet.

I saw the Original Trilogy in the theaters as a child. My mom bought me the novel for Empire Strikes Back, and I read it (on a train to Chicago) before I ever saw it onscreen.

I HATED what they did with all my heart. Luke is Darth's son? Leia's brother? Han is betrayed and out of action at the end? frick all that!
And y'know what, I saw the movie, and... I liked it.

That doesn't mean I'll like this one. It really depends on how it's presented.

That’s like saying they didn’t do anything before minute 0. Very misleading

Somewhere around the time Episode I was released everyone forgot what these movies are supposed to be; campy, funny at times, serious at times, great special effects with an utterly ridiculous premise for a story at it's core.

If that's what you take away, then that's your opinion. George Lucas himself has admitted that Star Wars was supposed to be an expanded universe (Hence the EU). That's why the many books and other media exist outside the original films.

Again, Star Wars is big enough to take as much or as little as you'd like seriously. But be careful not to let "a campy movie with special effects" allow you to forgive bad writing.

It may be better than some of the prequels, but to qualify this film as "good" is a laughable notion.
