This movie is so fricking good, I'm going to rewatch it now because of this thread. I saw it for the first time in 9th grade English literature and I was mesmerized. Everybody has mentioned all the great parts but one thing for me was the dubbing. I think the whole movie is dubbed and usually I'd hate that but it added to the eerie quality of it and actually made it better. It's definitely the definitive King Arthur movie/TV for me

Loved the nod in Ready Player One when they used that line. So damn perfect!

1981 was a damn good year for movies.

Raiders of the Lost Ark

The Road Warrior

An American Werewolf in London

Das Boot

Excalibur

Outland

The Evil Dead

Escape from New York

Thief

Blow Out

Body Heat

Raging Bull

Absence of Malice

Chariots of Fire

Clash of the Titans

The Blues Brothers

Stripes

Time Bandits

Arthur

History of the World: Part 1

Superman II

Dragonslayer

The Decline of Western Civilization

Gallipoli

Cutter's Way

The Final Conflict

Victory

Eye of the Needle

Southern Comfort

Atlantic City

Neighbors

For Your Eyes Only

Prince of the City

I miss getting to see this many good movies every couple of years, much less in one year.

Don’t ask me why

But from time to time in a British accent

I’ll blurt out to my wife and kids

“Arthur…where’s Kay’s sword?”

The only time I've ever walked out of a movie.

No didn't walk OUT of Excalibur, I walked out of something else that I don't even recall and jumped into another adjoining theater just as the lights were going down for Excalibur.

I stayed through a second showing

Percival finding the Grail is the best sequence in the film.
I have to say that Percival wanting to be knighted so that he could give his life for the Queen's honor was moving as all hell.

One of the greats. And it can never be remade the same way because much of the allure IMO comes from that otherworldly late 70s/early 80s style and production.
