New Netflix series, “Everything Sucks” drops tomorrow. The premise looks similar to Freaks and Geeks, but set in 1996. The trailer is kinda meh as far as acting goes, but I will give it a shot because I’ve been wanting a good 90s throwback series like this.

Man, TFW the cranberries started playing. I feel like they botched the execution here, though.

Yeah that’s a pretty bad trailer, and the casting looks weak, but it was created by two guys one of which was the writer behind like crazy & breathe in, 2 movies I really like. So I’ll give it a shot.

I’ll give it a shot simply for nostalgia sake but that seemed really terrible. Like they way overdid it with the “hey guys it’s the 90s!!!” Schtick

Freaks and Geeks was much more organic than that

That was my high school years and although the cast looks terrible and the premises were definitely on the extreme side, it did make me feel nostalgic.

This looks terrible, like a middle school version of Saved by the Bell or something.

High school movies should revolve around sex, drugs, and music.

This looks like a bunch of awkwardness, cheesiness, and cliches.

Looks awful. I loved how they crammed interracial relationships in there as well, not to mention the awkwardness of two kids dating when their parents are also dating. Yikes.

I can appreciate people trying to cash in on nostalgia, especially considering the success of Stranger Things. But this looks terrible, and barring some great reviews/recs on here, this is a hard pass for me.

Were they banned in the 1990s or something?

From kids in HS no, but you hardly every saw adults in their 40's in the 90's dating interracially especially not a white guy and black woman.

Interracial dating was one of the topics of the very special episodes of sitcoms in the 90's.

Im five episodes in. It’s not bad if you can get through the first episode.

It’s okay. Cringeworthy most of the time and the 90s nostalgia is way overdone.

Just watched the first episode.

Ate up with all the shite that is shoehorned these days.

First ep focuses on a black kid that is pretty great and his crush on a girl that is revealed to be a burgeoning lesbian at the end.

You can run but you can’t hide from this horseshite.

It is ruining everything.

Not as horrendous as I was bracing for but not great either. Having grown up in the 90s makes it worth the watch

Lilith Fair called to remind you there were definitely burgeoning lesbians in the 90s.
