Ever buy a ticket in support of a film, but had no interest of seeing it?

Especially for a lower budget indie type film. Stuff that's out there to 'raise awareness' and such.

No, but I have watched a movie I’m not interested in for the popcorn.

No. I’m sure there are better ways to donate to climate change than buying a movie ticket.

But you saw it, right? I'm talking about buying a ticket out of some principle of solidarity or whatever, but maybe you're not interested in sitting through a serious slog of a movie. I go to movies to be entertained, not lectured. I get there are important causes out there, and sometimes movies are a good way to get the point across, but that's also some of my time I can't get back.

I once bought a ticket to Son of the Mask so I could sneak into Constantine when I was 16.

Oh, I see your point then. No, I didn’t even go see Matt Walsh’s turd of a documentary.

Watch werewolves. Guarantee you’ve never seen a biker werewolf with tats and piercings. Dude looked like Beebop from TMNT.

When I was a student in BR, I bought cheap tickets to daytime movies just to enjoy the chill AC in the theater.

I bought a handful of tickets to movies at local theaters (not national chains) that I wasn’t going to see during the reopening phase after covid. Maybe 10 or 12 over a year-long stretch.

It wasn’t the theater’s fault our government was bought and paid for. It really is a shame what the Covid hysteria did to a once great industry… ticket sales are still only around 80% of pre-covid levels. Support local theaters when you can

Don’t know if these examples count but I went to see Batman 1989 but the sound was damaged so I had to watch Ghostbusters 2. I did get to comeback and see Batman the next weekend.

2nd was to watch 300, forgot the issue but we had a 3 hour wait and got to watch Ghost Rider for free which they should’ve paid me for that trash can.

It's a lame and fringe topic, I admit, but it was a slow day.

But the point I was driving at was 'to show support' for a movie, a director, a group, whatever, but having zero interest in sitting in a theater to watch the movie at all.

Most documentary type movies, or those promoting a cause - Call for Freedom. Or subscribing to a service.

Nah never done that. It’s on TV right now so I’ll ask an unrelated question. Which do you prefer, Kill Bill 1 or 2?
