Started watching this a few months ago to fall asleep at night and because I enjoyed The Pitt and knew the creators behind it were the creators of ER.

Never watched any network hospital dramas except some House as a teenager. Figured they were all just corny, junk food type shows. And I was nine when this came out so it wasn't something I was watching. I have to say ER is pretty great.

It started as something to put me to sleep and now last night it kept me awake I was so jacked up.

Just watched S1 EP19 "Loves Labor Lost." Holy hell what an episode. That was more intense and heartbreaking than anything in The Pitt honestly. You can tell it's the same creators of both shows because The Pitt actually borrows quite a few of the same stories with a small twist. If this show were to come out today, it would definitely be considered woke.

Pleasantly surprised how good this is. Not sure if it stays that way and if I'll make it all the way to the end because there are like 1,000 episodes. Wild that you had 25 episode seasons and the next season released within the same calendar year, those days are long gone.

If you bail after a season or two, here is my thread on my marathon run rewatching the entire series. Spoilers for later seasons.

EVERYONE watched Friends, Seinfeld, and ER on Thursdays.

ER really changed the game for what a medical drama could be.

I didn’t care for Jeanie Boulet in those early seasons

But ER is my favorite show of all time.

Stick with it. It really hits its stride

Watched this show after seeing the Pitt due to John Carter. And from episode one we were hooked. The ride lasted over a year for a us but man it was great to watch all of them. It’s one of my favorite shows of all time. The highs and lows mixed with humor and drama. The ridiculous episodes and events you just laugh at but those original seasons are amazing.

I started watching ER when I was 13 in 1994, and finished watching it after my daughter was born in 2008. I think it actually ran through 2009, but that is one heck of a run.

Don't want to do any spoilers, but it is a show that has been off the air for 17 years now, and I really enjoyed the last 2-3 seasons. Lots of full circle moments with the characters.

My son remembers listening to that theme when I was rocking him to sleep (that and Law & Order).

His head would shoot up when he heard them and then he would go back to sleep.

I used to watch this show when it was on with a girl I liked. We used to talk about moving to Chicago and becoming doctors.
She moved to Chicago and became an ER doctor and I fix appliances. Should have stuck with her. Lol she's the head of ER for some hospital in Round Rock Texas now.

No spoilers, you can stop after season eight and be happy.

I loved the two-day runs on weekdays TNT. Definitely splurged on the double header of that and and the Practice on sick days

ER was one of the very first series my wife and I watched from the very first episode to the end as it was released. We had not been married too long and it was a great thing to watch

Wife and I were married in 94 and were glued to the tv on Thursdays watching those 3 shows. Those along with Soprano’s, The Shield, and the X-Files. Some great television back then.

Glad to see this episode holds up some 30+ years later. It’s one of my top 5 episodes of TV ever (I remember TV from the early 1970s).

I stopped watching after about season 7 or so. Did a rewatch starting around the Lucy episode (you all know the one), and it was still really good. A nice core of characters. Loved Parminder Nagra, Maura Tierney, Mekhi Phifer, and Ming-Na. And Noah Wylie and Laura Innes are still around to harken back to the old days.

She must become a bigger character. She’s just a side character right now.

I like pretty much everybody but torn on Bennet. He’s clearly the most brilliant of them all but he’s an arse. Probably going to be good for Carter in the long run but he’s pretty hard on him.

Really like Susan and Dr Greene as well.

Benton definitely rides Carter hard. But he pushes him because he sees potential and greatness in him.. his meanness will come back to bite him with someone else and it is a really sad episode of the fallout

But that Benton/ Carter relationship has some really great and tender moments throughout the series with Benton showing grace/tough love and a father figure when Carter is going to need it most later on

Show has more layers than I was expecting. Watched S1 EP23 last night and it was the first time Bennet showed some really good bedside manners and expressed indirectly that he wanted Carter to pursue surgery not just ER residency.

Oddly enough it came on the episode that revealed John Carters dad is worth like 178 million. I think that maybe made Bennet realize that Carter does not have to be doing this and possibly impressed him.
