It really is funny seeing how easily duped boomers are by headlines
I don't think Kaiju is a boomer. I think he's just a retarded kid, likely 18-20 years old, that is easily manipulated by grifter algorithm nonsense and doesn't have the wisdom that comes with age to simply relax and examine things yourself with an open mind.
At least I hope he is not older than like 23

Uh what
One very specifically and prominently is.
Two others are prominently and repeatedly mentioned, with their "effects" being felt by the men quite tangibly

no, she's a vision. and yes, in part, but in the story, they are physically depicted, speak, etc.

Is she? That is certainly not clear
Its part of the film that I find one of the more striking, interesting, and debate worthy parts of it...
...and overt god appearances would not have worked in this version of the story at all, imo. It wasn't about the gods.

So, perhaps just post the direct quote from her here.
waiting for this quote from Emily Wilson saying Nolan's version was "more feminist than mine"
Posted on 7/23/26 at 2:01 pm to Fun Bunch
That's my point from the beginning. Why does modernity mean taking out the physical nature of the Gods?
Posted on 7/23/26 at 2:02 pm to SouthEasternKaiju
The more I think about it and the more other people I know bring up and ask questions about different things the worse it gets. That movie is horrible and it will be seen as awful in the near future. It’s so lazily made story wise, like he didn’t give two shits and knew all he needed were some IMAX shots, casting and messaging to get what he wanted.

What I don’t understand, his point mainly, of if you’re making it “modern” why take out the gods? Does modernity mean no religion?
Also makes no sense. The entire story is around his invention of Zeus’ law while telling us the gods aren’t real and peoples belief in them is the cause of all our loss and suffering. It’s retarded but frick you, Nolan, IMAX get fricked.

“out feminized the feminist"
I said that, you autistic retard! Good grief. But the point is and it is widely reported that she has issues with how his movie treated her translation.
Why don't YOU read the article? Feels like you didn't. You just saw the clip.
Emily Wilson, whose 2017 English translation of Homer's The Odyssey was widely reported to have influenced Nolan's adaptation, offered a pointed critique of the blockbuster during a recent discussion of the film. Rather than praising Nolan's interpretation, Wilson argued that the director fundamentally changes Odysseus by replacing the Homeric pursuit of glory with a modern psychological struggle centered on shame.

Gee, I don’t know what to tell you. Maybe you guys are just so simple that you don’t understand the larger points of discussion.
But if you like the sparkly keychain dangling in front of your eyes, good for you!

Starting to think this is the issue. These people are just too stupid to understand any of this. Btw Metacritic has it at 5.2 out of 10.

If I'm on the fence, as I was with this movie, I'll wait for some reviews of people that I know and they all said positive things.
Why is that any different than waiting for reviews of people you know and they say it's a yawner?
People decide whether or not to watch a movie all the time just based on trailers and partial information. Outside of the few people who just see everything that comes out, that's how most normal people reach a decision about a movie.

5.2 on metacritic. This is just an average movie like I said.

Ahh yes.
Where ShadowFang21 can give a 0 with and write such useful reviews as this
quote:
Absolutely **** movie with **** cast I will never ever watch this pile of woke ***
Literally said they will never watch it
Or Moviesage with a 0 with this

I'm a long-time Nolan super fan and have watched and studied his work extensively. I really gave this one a chance but the fact of the matter and my ultimate conclusion is that this movie represents the literal downfall Western society. It's purely obscene in every possible sense. It's an insult to Greek culture and to all of humanity. The dialogue, the disgusting casting, the music, the pacing and the overall pretentiousness. I just can't believe how Nolan put this pile of filth out for public display. The Odyssey is simply an abomination.
An abomination

These are just within the last few of the reviews

Hence its low score.
It the only place that can review bomb it so it has self selected that.
10 is excessive but a 0 is ridiculous
8.5 IMDB score is about right.
Rotten tomatoes when you understand the methodology it makes the 97 understandable. It’s not that it has a 9.7 out of 10. It’s vast majority of people who have watched the movie think it’s solid. This has correlated with my experience talking to others.

You should read the 10/10 reviews. None of them seen movie and it’s a masterpiece
