Watched this last night after seeing that it was free w/ads on Amazon Prime via FreeVee and it has Matt Damon. Was wondering how I had never heard of this movie but after watching I am sure everyone involved wanted people to forget that it was ever made. Jodie Foster and William Fichtner were in the movie as well.

The premise was actually decent but I legit laughed at the ending of the movie since it was so preposterous.

It’s an allegory. Shows what section 8 does to nice clean communities.

On the plus side, Alice Braga is in the film as well.

Jodie Foster's accent in this movie was awful and not needed.

Should’ve taken the special effects from this movie and turned it into a Halo movie.

As someone who absolutely adored District 9, Elysium was complete dogshit. Foster's accent is one of the worst of all time

We saw it in the theater and had the audience participation experience of a viewer having a cardiac incident during the film. They stopped the movie while the paramedics came in and wheeled him out.

Then they started the show back up and Matt Damon went on complaining about their non-existent healthcare.

Blomkamp was attached to a Halo movie that never went anywhere, and directed some live action shorts for the Halo 3 ad campaign.

I have no idea if he would have made a good Halo movie (D9 is amazing, the rest of his filmography is meh), but visually it would have been amazing, no doubt.

I saw it once and thought it was crap. Kept waiting for something good to happen but came away disappointed. Unless they were just wanted to help propagate a one world government, I can't imagine why Foster and Damon would take these roles.

audience participation experience of a viewer having a cardiac incident
Had that happen at a Texas Rangers game. Was there with a friend who has a drinking problem. He poured a pint of whiskey into a 32 oz. Coke and was drunk before the game got started. While the ambulance crew was trying to revive the man who had a heart attack, my friend said with a drunkard's slur, "Some people will do anything to get on TV."

The ambulance crew worked diligently on the man, stopped talked to the family he was with, and the Rangers security people escorted them out. As the ambulance crew took the man away, the Rangers Security guy told everyone the man was going to be OK.The next day there was an article in the paper about a man dying from a heart attack at the game.

Was pumped for this after District 9, but man was Blomkamp way too over the top with his message.

Damon was a douche too, it had some cool guns that was it. Copley plays a good psychopath though

Foster was arse, movie sucked

I loved Sharlto Copley's transition from wormy wussy dude in District 9 to intimidating badass in Elysium. It was the highlight of the movie for me.

Elysium is one of my more modern guilty pleasures films. It deserves all the criticism levied against it but I still like the look, the setting and the action sequences. I love the scene when they take down Carlyle's shuttle.

One of the most obvious propaganda movies I've ever seen, and that's saying a lot. It's so over the top with its messaging and cartoonish villains that I just had to laugh all the way through it.

That was my favorite. The 'elites' had a tube that could cure any disease and heal any would, even if half your head is blown off.

But you can't have that, lowly brown people (and Matt Damon)! Only the oppressors may use it!

Best part of the movie, hands down. The rest of it was a joke but this cat was legit scary at times.
