Almost every single tv show and movie are doing this and have been for the last 15-20 years. Every year they get more aggressive with it. Constantly swapping out white characters for POC, male characters change to female, straight to gay, etc.
What is extra disappointing in this case is we thought Nolan was above such nonsense. That he would put the integrity of his story first. Clearly he has changed his mind on that subject or had it changed for him by the studio.
If there's one thing CN likes to do, it's produce a shitty movie.

The IMDB page for this movie currently doesn't say who is playing Helen, and also doesn't say who Lupita is playing. LINK
Seems like a pretty important casting to be kept under wraps, but there is definitely no confirmation of who is playing Helen at this point. I imagine Elon Musk has better sources than I do though.
The IMDB page also lists Ellen Page as a cast member. If that's true, I really don't care who else is in the movie. I won't be paying money to see it.

A black Snape level disaster for this movie.
In a different time it may have been accepted with less scrutiny but people are tired of this needless crap.

If true, I’ll avoid it for the same reason I avoided the Scarlett Johansson Ghost in the Shell movie.
She shouldn’t have been cast in the role and it ruins the immersion.

I can't speak for everyone in this thread. But for me, it's not the skin color. Stacey Dash from 25 years ago would be a great Helen. But this chick ain't it. That's not a beauty that launched a thousand ships.

More accurately, attacking the very real photos that shows the prior Helen side by side with the speculated new Helen as a comparison is just obfuscating the point.
