Downsizing was absolutely meh at best. Just wait till it's on Netflix.

Talk about way over selling the humor of the movie.
Oh it has Jason sudekis and Kristen wigg it will probably be funny. They had maybe 10 min of screen time combined and none of it was funny.
I knew going in that it was supposed to have a political message so that didn't bother me, but the fact that most of the jokes we're based around a Vietnamese woman talking funny did.
Save your money.

That's disappointing. Payne is usually on point.

I mean, the concept was cool and it was a different idea, it just didn't land for me.

Easily Payne's worst. About two thirds of the movie could have been done without the whole downsizing aspect at all. Damon's character was one of the least interesting leads I've ever seen in film. And I only chuckled a few times throughout. Can't remember the last time I was more disappointed in a movie.

That's two opinions I trust. Looks like I'm waiting for Netflix.

Adnan Virk is usually pretty generous with movies he doesn’t like. Usually gives them 2 out of 4 and will have a couple good things to say. He tweeted out yesterday that it’s one of the worst movies of the year and gave it a 1/4

Damn I usually like Thomas Hayden Church.

It's a lower end decent rainy day flick. Completely forgettable, and basically pointless with the "twist" and "double twist"
Didn't hate it, but probably wouldn't watch it again
ETA - the fake Vietnamese accent was baaaaad

Damon being an A lister might be in jeopardy. This movie bombed and so did The Wall. Combine that with his recent comments on sexual assault being blasted and that he was close to Weinstein. His career is certainly on a decline.

Damon’s last 3 movies(I think):
The Great Wall
Suburbicon
Downsizing
Yikes

Definitely not a comedy, or even a dark comedy. The r rating is basically for the use of the f-word in a two-minute span. There was drug use, and a little nudity as well, but the nudity at least was germane to the story.
Too long, and the payoff at the end was lackluster. Waltz is good, and probably the highlight.
CGI was horrid in many spots when downsized people are interacting with big people.

It looks pretty stupid.
I liked it the first time...when it was called "Honey, We Shrunk Ourselves."

That's all I needed to hear. Hollywood can stick there political messages where the sun don't shine.

I mean, who saw the trailer for this movie and thought it would be good?

Time to make another Bourne movie so he doesn't have to act so much.

I completely agree this movie is terrible. I thought it was going to be a cooler more updated (via special effects) Honey I Shrunk the Kids. I was pretty annoyed they tried to advertise this as a lighter hearted comedy.
The two worst parts of the movie were Damon's character and the terrible Vietnamese lady's speech. Damon's character was so weak and unlikeable that it made everything else they tried to do in the movie obsolete.
At least I got to see it on a screener DVD. Save your money everyone.

This is surprising? This movie screamed of hippies ejaculating all over the screen.

Look at Payne's resume:
Nebraska
Descendants
Sideways
About Schmidt
Election
Citizen Ruth
The guy's been a "mainstream" director since '96 and he'd put out 3 fringe classics (Election, Schmidt, Sideways) and 3 films that were at least "good." So yeah, I was really surprised that it was so bad.
That's the most upsetting part: it's not a huge deal that I was disappointed in a movie, that happens all the time. But this feels like having to wait ~6 years between Payne movies instead of ~3.

Dudes a great actor with a lot of range.
He is making bad decisions on roles and movies. Not the first time we have seen this.
