One of the top five movie watching experiences for me. It’s like eating a full bag of Doritos on the couch doing nothing. You know it’s not good for you but it’s just too enjoyable to stop

It was ridiculous and over the top then. It still is.

The movie works because every person involved is a really talented actor who knows exactly how bad the script is. So everyone hams it up, and it is so much glorious fun. Steve Buscemi must have felt he was stealing money.

I would love to read an oral history about the making of that movie. The cast is fantastic and you know no one was stretching his acting muscles.
Con Air and Armageddon must have allowed Steve Buscemi to make a bunch of little indie movies and still live nice without working too hard.

I agree.....the bad guys make this movie work and John Malkovich as Cyrus the Virus is one of the best deranged, brilliant, evil genius/mastermind roles ever. He is perfectly in control while on the edge of madness the entire movie. Ving Rhames was good too, just not as good as Malkovich.

There was a great exchange on the Graham Norton show between Sam L. Jackson and John Malkovich, where it was brought up that the two of them had each been in a ton of films.

Malkovich: Why have we never done a movie together?

Jackson: You don't do the kind of movies I do.

Malkovich: Excuse me? I was in Con-Air!

Cage's accent and back story are ridiculous.
Malkovich is way over the top.

I watch it every time it is on and it still holds up.

I mean its not just the biog names, who are clearly having a blast, but the lesser known character actors. MC Gainey gets to ham it up as the pilot and the actor who plays Billy Bedlam is so deliciously evil. And we haven't even gotten into Danny Trejo doing Danny Trejo things.

Con Air is the best bad movie ever made.

MC Gainey tends to ham it up when given the opportunity, such as Mr Friendly on Lost and in his brief appearance in Beerfest.

Nicolas Cage isnt mentally sound, and studios enable him.

That's the worst judgment I've seen since that judge gave Cameron Poe extra time because he was in the army.

It's been way too long since I've watched it. Bugged my dad to see it in theaters at least 5-6 times when it came out.
