Nope. Yoda died a few years before this.

Got it, thanks.

I knew this, just didn't understand the timeline. I thought maybe no one knew Grogu's birth name was Yoda so they called him something else

The damn "baby yoda" thing thew me off, you're right.

I wont say those complaints are valid, but at the end of season 3 Mando is pretty much freed up to do whatever.

I agree that I dont really like him on a huge scale, but they aren’t obligated to make him all important

they can tell a smaller self contained adventure with personal stakes to Mando and Grogu.

Sure they can. But they’re not. They already said this ties in to the Thrawn story.

Probably not financially.

I'm the opposite. The budget was $166M, meaning it needs to make at least $332M to be profitable. I think the movie will make well above that, meaning financially it will be a success.

Probably closer to $750. $166 production budget and probably close to that in P&A. Box office take is probably 45%, so to cover $332 you need more than double the P&A plus production spend. Sometimes on a premium movie there are better percentages, but a $500 million box office means this thing is a loser.

Man. . .I just don't know

Fan enthusiasm for the show was at an all time low with the last season.

Maybe kids go see it for "baby yoda"?

I was an obsessively hardcore SW fan, and had been for decades. I am part of many SW message boards and social media groups.

Very little enthusiasm outside of the uber-lefty/lgbt SW subreddit r/saltierthankrait. . .and their shite seems really forced. They did the same with The Acolyte, and then none of them watched it.

If you're going to add P&A, then add all the ancillary revenues this film will make

Promotion is generally counted towards the P/L after the number is known. . .which is generally way later

Toy sales and licensing fees are generally separate from the P/L due to the fact that it almost all goes directly through Disney proper. It was different when Lucas owned it.

Probably fair at best for a Star Wars movie. As for me personally, Disney has pretty much ruined my interest in Star Wars.

I wonder what success means to Disney. I don’t think it’s gong to hit a billion dollars or anything, but if Favreau gets to tell his story it could be decent. Honestly, the hype meter is pretty low in my household at least.

Star Wars is dead unless something radical happens. I was a HUGE fan but The Last Jedi killed the whole thing for me, I’ll never likely watch another Star Wars movie in the theater.

KK was perfectly fine with kissing off the older, original fans because she believed to her core that new fans would simply materialize from the ether & replace them.

This was made clear with every decision across the IP, from movies, shows & park experiences.

Summed up perfectly in one stupid line…

“Let the past die , kill it if you have to.”

It's amazing how much damage that one movie made. They'll write books about it someday

I wouldn't bet against Star Wars. The Rise of Skywalker did a BILLION dollars even after the absolute train wreck that was Last Jedi.

Next years film is rumored to be a continuation of the sequel trilogy. I think you're correct not to bet against that one. I think it has a chance to be big. Mando is a spin-off like Rogue One and Solo. Right now, I'd bet on it doing around 400 mil WW.

No. It may not lose a ton of money but it has almost zero chance of being a hit.

We aren't in that world anymore, though. Even with TLJ being horrid, Star Wars was still an event, like an Endgame.

Disney has burned every ounce of goodwill fans had towards SW

The only fans they have in great numbers are the gays. But they are only fans on the internet, they don't actually watch the stuff.

These 2 sentences don’t go together. It kind of broke my brain just reading them.

Star Wars have "been out on star wars" since the prequels, yet they always show up.

Star Wars is easily the most toxic and shite on fandom. yet fans will always watch.

by the way, saying this one wont be successful be cause it's a spin off, Rogue one... also a BILLION.

People love to hate on star wars but cannot quit it.
