I really enjoyed but was expecting something different. I was going on the impression it would be each episode sort of stand alone. A different bounty each week and different story. But there seems to be a deep plot plus many subplots going on like with the Mandalorian tribes making a comeback.
I also noticed about everything that was in the trailers was in the first episode which the trailers had me excited. The only issue I have now is having to wait another week for the next episode.

Eight or nine episodes and they are released weekly.

My only complaint is the design of those blurrgs they were riding around on.
I didn't really get it. The guy says "You must ride Blurg to get there". No description why? It shows them "hopping/jumping" over big cracks but the Blurgs didn't run that fast or jump that high.

Maybe a question for a different thread but would GoT been as big as it was without the water cooler talk throughout the week while we waited for the next episode?
This was already discussed, in this thread.
The weekly build def is a net win on the popularity and discussion of a show. Every morning meeting after GOT we would discuss it, talk about next week, etc.
The same crew of us all watched stranger things, altered carbon, travelers, punisher, etc and only ever had one or two conversations about them, after we binged it all usually. No one was even interested to talk about it even though we all enjoyed them. Most conversation opened with "what episode are you on?" And then when we realized we weren't synched we didn't even discuss the shows.
The weekly model is way better, the only thing that sucks is the wait, but it builds momentum, hype, discussion, etc.

I truly enjoyed this first show.. Yeah the dialogue was a bit iffy but its the Best Star Wars to Star Wars since the OT.. Really looking forward to this season.
As others have said the baby Yoda was a really cool surprise. Mainly b/c very little is known about his species even in the EU from what i recall. I believe in Legends material his species is referred to as Lannik and there have been several to be apart of the Jedi Council even in canon. But outside of that i don't recall seeing anything else regarding the species. So needless to say excited to see where they take it from here.

I agree. I really liked everything about the episode, but the middle seemed strange. If that was put there to build the character, I felt like it was misplaced. It's the first 20 minutes of the show. We don't need some scene showing that Mando is humbled and can learn from this backwoods sage. That made sense in ESB because we had a full movie and a half with Luke before Yoda broke him down.
Now, if more of the significance comes out in later episodes, it will make sense.

Hypothetical.
You're a wanted bounty in this universe.
Walking a dark alley you see an IG-11 droid in front of you, behind you, you see an 800 series terminator. Both are armed. Which is a lesser threat?
Im taking my chances with the terminator.

The IG-11 is much more likely to hit what it aims at, but the T-800 is much harder to take out.

Why couldn't he just get back in his ship and fly closer to where they were going?

That was my thought as well. What made him land right there? Either this is something we will learn later or the scene had to have been cut down to where it didn't make much sense.

Whoever made this should have been making the movies because this has a star wars feel. Gritty and imperfect. I thought Solo hit the correct tone too. I am in.

He didn't know exactly where the target was so I think he just landed his ship wherever to start off. He then got sneak attacked by the very sneaky blurgs and luckily rescued by a cowboy stranger.

Yes very interested to see where they go with the baby. At 50 yrs old doesn’t that put its birth shortly before Phantom Menace?
Did Yoda bang one out? Most likely not since he was so strict against intimate love being a Jedi. If it’s not his, that means maybe there were more Yodans running around in the galaxy, but I always thought he was one of a kind.
Maybe Emperor hunted them all down after Revenge of the Sith looking for Yoda. This baby is probably the last of its kind in the galaxy, hence the enormous bounty on it.
Interesting premise though, can’t wait to see where they take it.

I also agree with the poster that a lot of the shots in the trailers were in the very first episode. I think we’re going to be in for quite a ride
