Did a rewatch of Maverick (1994) and it holds up well.

Maverick mixes smart and funny, a dramedy that has held up incredibly well. Lots of tongue in cheek humor, mixed with some excellent old west cinematography. It's one of the fun movies from my youth that has gotten better with age.

Also, they somehow made Jodie Foster look and sound like a beautiful southern belle in this film. Tons of cameos by other western actors, musicians and entertainers to round out a star-studded cast.

Damn good flick and worthy of showing the kids. To quote some old man somewhere, "they ain't makin' em like this anymore."

Love that movie but haven’t seen it in years. Is it streaming anywhere (did you come across it recently or just thought of it)?

Fun fact, pretty sure I saw this in theaters with a buddy and his mom the day of the OJ white bronco chase

The wife and I watched it a few weeks ago. We really enjoyed it. Also did Support Your Local Gunfighter and Support Your Local Sheriff. Gunfighter was a hoot - Sheriff, meh.

Lots of fun but there is some serious ending fatigue there.

More twists and turns than Wild Things but with fewer titties.

Love this movie. Also liked Lightning Jack with Paul Hogan that came out 2 months before this one.

The TV series is great too.

Some of the best episodes have James Garner and Jack Kelly as the Maverick brothers.

ETA:

Roger Moore appeared as some kind of relative named Beauregarde Maverick.

You can watch it on Starz.

Have it on DVD. Love that movie. Everyone is great in it and I love they have so many old Western actors in it.

Watched Lightning Jack right after Maverick. They are very similar to me and I really liked them both in my younger days.

Say what you will about racist arse melly gibson, but in addition to his Mt. Rushmore of movies, his undercard is filled with a bunch of watchable movies:

Maverick
Payback
Man with a face
Forever Young
Ransom
Conspiracy Theory
Signs
Hamlet
Tequila Sunrise
We were soldiers
What women want

(His acting Mt Rushmore of course being braveheart, mad max, lethal weapon, Patriot)

I agree. My only complaint is the twist with Coop stealing the money only to be his dad seemed unnecessary. That is a very small complaint, however, as it was proven that nobody could trust anybody.

Great movie. Always got the vibe that the cast and crew had a blast making it.

Low key a favorite growing up. Graham Greene stole the entire movie for the brief time he was in screen.

Is this the sequel? Lol

And I shall watch Maverick tonight. I need a good lighthearted laugher.

—“They”? It’s called acting. Like how she played a heterosexual woman on the prowl for Maverick AND his dad.

I need to watch this one again. It was a few years ago, and a long time before that I last saw it. Still has great rewatch value to it.

Haven't seen this movie in quite a few years. Remind me again why Coop stole the money. If Mav wins the tourney, why was it necessary for the theft? Maybe it's discussed when they meet up in the Spa afterwards, but I don't recall the specifics.
