What a horrible end to the trilogy but at least it exposed George Lucas as a greedy cynical douchebag. The time, money, and effort that came after would have been better spent elsewhere.

Well he’s wrong, ROTJ wasn’t as good as the first 2 but it wasn’t shite and is light years better than anything they put out today.

What’s funny is if it were put out today, by Disney you’d call it the greatest Star Wars movie ever made by far.

What I noticed about ROTJ is that Luke wears a cape with a hood, instead of the hooded robe like all of the other Jedi before him. Weird.

Always saw Star Wars as a Godfather Part 1 and 2.....had no quarter for Return, typical 3rd installment wonky. And of course, no interest in the Prequels....gave woke Disney a chance and that was a bad choice, but you had hope.

We owned the great Empire Strikes Back on VHS....$89.99 in 1984...That's like $300 today. Had to always tighten the gears with a Nickel because we wore the film out and you got Outer Limits lines on the TV....that was the beginning and end for Star Wars for me.

He's almost right. Started when Lucas ran off Kurtz.

I dont grade movies or shows on 1/10. I grade them on thumbs up or down because thats all that matters, if I enjoy watching it or not. Dune Prophecy gets a thumbs up too

It was always my least favorite as a kid. The first 30 minutes at Jabbas lair is really good. The last 30 minutes with Luke/Vader/Emperor are great. Everything in between is kinda weak.

If we are being honest, the movie only had to
nail two parts: rescuing Han and the final confrontation. It delivered on both of those. The Prequels mostly dropped the ball but at least gave us Maul fight and the final fight, which were both great.

Disney didnt even come close to anything redeeming

I guess I’m in the minority that I always loved Jedi.

I thought the Ewok angle was kind of stupid, but the space battles in RotJ were fantastic imo.

I mean, he’s right. The Jabba stuff is solid but unrelated to the rest of the plot.

I think it does a lot to show Luke’s progression as a Jedi. There needed to be some early scenes to establish his improvement since ESB and that he was ready for a rematch with Vader.

I agree with him ROTJ is a step down. it's why I think it's funny people act like everything was amazing until Disney took over.

Star Wars is an A+ film
Empire Strikes Back is an A+ film
Return of the Jedi is an A- or B+ film

While the third and final chapter of the original trilogy is a step or two down from the first two films, it's still solid in its own right. The film provides a satisfying albeit flawed conclusion to the story.

And virtually no one believes the prequels to be masterpieces of cinema. Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones both get shite on by hard core fans of the franchise while Revenge of the Sith gets a little bit of love from most of it. The difference between the prequels and the sequels, however, is that the former had an overarching vision and a coherent story that we could follow from beginning, middle, and end. The sequels were a disjointed mess that were clearly crafted by two separate men with two different visions.
