As infuriating as it is, I at least found it incredible/encouraging there are people like David and Kathleen Bagby out there

Amen to that. Not to spin this as a negative, but my wife and I discussed what % of the latest generations are as intellectually and emotionally sturdy enough to handle what they did in a comparable way. I’d say the number is abysmal

It did not, thankfully. I was well aware of the subject matter and put off watching it for years until I was in a proper headspace to digest it. Thank God I didn't have kids yet when I watched it.

I watched it a while back and it is a horrible situation. The legal system let that child and his grandparents down in an unimaginable way.
I don't get why this board acts like its some horror movie that you can't rewatch. Maybe I'm not wired that way, but I don't find it much different than a Dateline episode.

It is rough at times. But it’s not like it’s unwatchable or anything.
And I’ve always thought that despite the bad shite, it’s actually also a pretty uplifting story about the parents and their efforts.

I saw this recommended a couple times here and a few other places.
One night my son just would not sleep. He has always been a great sleeper but he just wouldn't go down. He was around a year old at the time. I plop on the couch with him and throw this on thinking "oh this is a sweet story about a dad dying and his friend making sure his son knows his dad loved him." Figured the twist or whatever would be about his dad getting murdered or something.
When he finally fell asleep I watched the last 15-20 minutes, put him in his crib, and slept on the floor next to him.
