Dan Stevens is set for the title role in the “Robocop” TV series at Amazon Prime Video, Variety has confirmed.

The show was originally announced in July at the streamer. Prime Video has given the show an eight-episode order. The project has been in development since Amazon acquired MGM in 2022, with Amazon looking to capitalize on their access to MGM’s deep IP library for both film and television projects.

George Floyd is secretly resurrected and made into an officer of the law. From the inside, Robo george will change modern policing and usher in social change.

Just shut down the M/TV Board and move the discussion of movies and TV to the Poli Board. This place is fricked beyond use.

You see how much it bothers you when a movie/tv forum forces you to endure political commentary? Well, that's how much it bothers us to have actual movies/tv programs do the same to us. Are we to stop whining or you?

You're asking me if you remove the thing that bothers me, if I will no longer be bothered by it? Yes. That's how it works.

If that's what you took from my post, then your reading comprehension skills truly are compromised.

If they keep the ultraviolence in it then it might have a shot to be worth a damn. I liked Legion even though it went off the rails there at the end.

you just made his point. The RoboCop show isn't doing that to you. It's not even out yet. Biljs post was a pointless hypothetical.

Rings of Power exists.

They took one of the greatest IPs in history and turned into a DEI showcase. That is undeniable, so worrying that Amazon might politicize lowly Robocop, ESPECIALLY given the nature of the film itself about corporate militarization of law enforcement, is not exactly some far fetched idea.

You guys are soft. The original film itself, and most of Verhoeven's work, has a political bend. Now he's more skilled than plopping on black elves at least, but the point stands.

I'd argue Robocop might require more politics than something like Lord of the Rings. It does ask ethical questions, the problem that people fear is that this always goes one way and rarely is it deft and smartly done.

Yet you have a whole post bitching about something that hasn’t even come to fruition with this show at this point.

If you don’t think the post being referenced isn’t hysterical idiocy, I’m not sure what to tell you.

He made a joke that seems appropriate given the source material.

Not sure what your tantrum is about

Eh? Read that again. I said Rings of Power, which is a pretty valid argument and that Robocop actually SHOULD be political most likely, it's kind of embedded in the property. And said, lightly, that it would make sense to worry in what direction this will land.

You mean the post laced with a heaping tablespoon of sarcasm?

ETA: I have been trying to be nicer to people on this board, but the response to an obvious joke was just a bit much

Wouldn’t have to do that if Hollywood wasn’t so insistent on making every damn thing they make political.

I made a post that was nothing but quotes of yours and you replied with something about me masturbating. Is that the sort of dialogue the board has when it's not fricked?

We see it here all of the time, when folks wishcast some woke revelation when details of the show haven’t even dropped.

It’s literally the “I was just joking, but really…”

And then it all devolves into a rant about how Hollywood is too woke.

Rinse and repeat. You can barely even discuss shows here anymore without some bullshite very clearly meant to derail the thread. It’s stupid and annoying.
