Durance to appear as Lois

Smallville's Tom Welling to Reprise Superman Role for Arrowverse 'Crisis on Infinite Earths' Crossover
quote:

“For eight years, Arrow has stood on the shoulders of Smallville,” EP Marc Guggenheim said in a statement. “Simply put, there would be no Arrow, and no Arrowverse, without it. So when we first started talking about ‘Crisis on Infinite Earths,’ our first, second and third priorities were getting Tom to reprise his iconic role as Clark Kent. To say that we’re thrilled would be a Superman-sized understatement.”

Tyler Hoechlin & Brandon Routh To Suit Up As Superman For Arrowverse Crossover On the CW
quote:

This time, the producers of the DC franchise on the CW are planning a big stunt involving one of DC’s most recognizable superheroes, Superman. Two actors who have played the Man of Steel, Tyler Hoechlin and Brandon Routh, will both portray him in different time frames. The news is expected to be revealed at Comic-Con. Both Hoechlin and Routh are already members of the Arrowverse — Hoechlin recurs as Superman on Supergirl, while Routh plays Ray Palmer/The Atom on DC’s Legends Of Tomorrow, a character he first introduced on Arrow.

CONFIRMED: Batman's Burt Ward Will Appear in Crisis on Infinite Earths

Kevin Conroy to appear as a future Batman
quote:

On the casting front, unspecified characters from Black Lightning, which to date has never fully been a part of the Arrowverse, will make their crossover event debut. Additionally, veteran voice actor Kevin Conroy (Batman: The Animated Series, Batman Beyond) will make a special guest appearance as “Bruce Wayne from the future.”

We get it Berlanti and Guggenheim. Dude played Superman in that crappy 2005 movie. You don’t need to call back to it. If they hadn’t done this numerous times via quips and meta references and stuff like that, maybe it would be neat.

I guess I get that you are going to need multiple Superman‘s for this arc. So you need a familiar face. But ultimately, it loses impact and who cares

I don't care what anyone says about the rest of the movie; the scene early on in Superman Returns when he rescues the plane is all kinds of kick arse.

Superman Returns is a lot better than it will ever get credit for.

Not a great movie, but Routh is a likable guy and comes across amazingly on the CW shows. I fall behind on those shows and always have to catch up, but I never miss the crossovers. They do those extremely well.

Welling may eventually, but Cain should be easy. He plays Supergirl's Earth father on the CW.

They may still get other Supermans. This announcement only pertains to people that would otherwise be on set anyway. They might be keeping the others secret.

But Dean Cain did have a role on Supergirl already so that may pose a problem. But we're talking about a show built around the premise that glasses effectively change everything about a person's look, voice, and persona. So maybe there wouldn't be an issue at all.

John Wesley Shipp has appeared on Flash as Henry Allen, Jay Garrick, and Barry Allen. They’re good with actors playing different characters on different Earths.

I agree..I thought it was a pretty decent film. I liked the casting as well. Kate Bosworth with dark hair made a much better Lois Lane than Amy Adams and Kevin Spacey was a really good Lex Luthor (although he's a perv).

I have no problem saying Superman Returns was much better tha "the Man of Steel"

Routh is a likeable actor and did a nice Reeve impersonation. The plane saving scene and the rooftop machine gun scene were fantastic. The movie sucked arse. Bosworth sucked, the kid sucked, and Spacey and Posey were a cartoon. Bad writing and bad directing.

Flashback to 2008 when we played UC-Irvine in the Super Regionals here in BR and Tyler Hoechlin was the UC-Irvine second baseman...

Yeah, that just ain't the case . . . at all. Not that Man of Steel is all that, but Returns is just garbage.

I'm honestly pretty excited for this.

Brandon Routh got a raw deal with the 2006 movie and he deserved a much better script and story than that crapfest the pedo rapist Bryan Singer gave him. Hopefully he will make one hell of an impression with writers who are determined to give his portrayal of the character justice that also honors the source material.

Hoechlin makes a decent Superman but Brandon was just and has the potential to be even better in the CW.

Side note here: It's honestly pretty damn sad that Brandon Routh is getting a second shot at Superman before we see Henry Cavill back in action shooting Man of Steel 2. frick Warner Bros wasting a prime talent like him.

Hey now, that's no way to talk about the granddaddy and greatest hero in all of comic book history, both Marvel and DC combined.
