Just got to the dungeons and dragons episode, marks the point where Pierce just becomes an a-hole without any attempt to soften that.
great episode tho, one of the best

I think my favorite is the video game episode

Community has so many awesome “specialty” episodes. I remember they they were hit or miss when it aired, but appreciated the efforts nonetheless (even if they tried too hard at times). But man when they hit they hit so damn hard. I remember thinking “oh great, this may be bad” when they did the second paintball episode(s), and then was amazed that they actually took a different spin on them and hey were great.
Community was a show that I looked forward to every week and never missed. I can’t wait to rewatch it now. Watched the first episode yesterday and when I rewatch I always laugh at how they went from trying to make Britta the hot, smart one to a complete joke ditz later in the series.

There was a lot of episodes that I didn't like the first watch through, but the second or third times through the rotation, I started enjoying more and more episodes

I can’t believe they hired Britta to be the “hot girl” and Allison Brie to be the “nerd”. Truly amazing how they befuddled that casting and it still worked
They just cast the most talented people possible and knew that they would figure it out later. Donald Glover as a jock didn’t really make sense either but they knew he was gonna be a star.

Pretty much what every sitcom does. You have a lead and cast to that. Then you fill in the periphery with general ideas but ones that you can pivot immediately once you see how they interact on the show
McHales Jeff was never really "changed" like everyone else. Pierce was initially written to serve as a soundboard for Jeff to offer him advice on life matters. They scrapped that after the first Christmas break and wrote pierce to more fit Chevy chase. Troy was supposed to be a jock that wanted people to take him more seriously. They scratched that somewhere by Halloween once they realized donald glover is one of the most talented entertainers alive
It's what they do

GI Jeff is a masterpiece.

Still wish we had gotten that animated Deadpool series on FX that he was creating

I also recall reading or maybe hearing on Dan Harmon’s podcast that Chevy was kind of forced on him. He had input on the casting of all the others but that was non-negotiable.

Gillian Jacobs really britta’d that plan

I vaguely remember reading that as well. But even then, while being the weakest link, I think Dan did a better job with Pierce than people have given him credit for

Pierce gets worse as a character every time I rewatch it.
It doesn’t take long before you see the friction that was going on backstage about his role. He was an a-hole from day 1 but after 1 season they stop writing any version of him learning or repenting for him being an arse. He just goes full dick because clearly dan didn’t like him and he didn’t like being on the show. Dan wanted the audience to hate him
Harmon certainly was a guilty party in that fued but that back and forth really hindered the show for a while

I don’t know when the first verbal reference to inspector space time happens, but I just noticed the poster on Abeds wall in like episode 8.

This show at its best was untouchable.

Started season 1. You can tell abed was a star from episode one
Posted on 4/5/20 at 10:04 pm to CP3LSU25
Abed is the MVP of the show all things considered

Between this and the office and parks and rec. You couldn’t find a better line up

I still bust up when Pierce is in the quadriplegic wheelchair after breaking his legs in the episode where Annie loses her pen.
Also, him doing backup vocals for Vaughn’s band singing “Getting rid of Britta”
“She’s a no good B”
“She’s a G D B”

Pierce’s racism was amazing in season one.
